BAK Vortrak Retractable Aluminum Truck Bed Tonneau Cover
The BAK Vortrak low profile tonneau cover is a retractable cover composed of interlocking aluminum slats. The 1/2″ extruded aluminum slats are dent resistant and glide along the heavy-duty aluminum rails as is rolls into the compact canister. The slats form a tight bond to each other, creating a secure, water resistant barrier while the matte black powder coat finish offers great scratch resistance and UV protection. The mounting rails sit flush with the truck’s bed caps to create an extremely low-profile look. When the cover is fully retracted into the canister, you will nearly have full bed access. The canister is spring-loaded to assist in easy operation, and the included pull strap makes reaching the cover from the tailgate a breeze. Also, in addition to locking in the fully open or closed position, the Vortrak can be locked open in two additional places of your choice. To open the cover, you simply pull the cable release from either side of the truck bed and slide the cover towards the canister. Closing the cover is easy by using the pull strap attached to the rear of the cover. The Vortrak is an easy installation, with no drilling or special tools needed. It is certainly no secret that Im a fan of BAK Industries. Youve probably even seen me wondering around the office sporting my BAK MX4 shirt from time to time. So Ill disclose that up front. But heres the thing: BAK has earned my trust and fandom and more over the years. They make great products and I have tested them in person and even installed a few. I rarely hear complaints nor have I ever had any myself.

Superior Durability & Protection Against The Elements
The base design of the RollBAK and Vortrak are similar. Both employ ½ thick aircraft grade aluminum slats that are interlinked so that they form a solid protective shield when rolled out, and are still able to retract into a canister that takes up less than a foot of truck bed length mounted at the front end of your bed.

I hate to harp on this, but this has been a serious complaint I have had for years. Why hasnt anyone tried this before? Retractables should be able to be locked in multiple positions. BAK heard me and answered superbly.

General Maintenance & Lubrication
MAINTENANCE
It is recommended that you periodically check your cover is securely attached to your truck bed. Inspect the clamps and front mounting bolts to ensure they were properly installed and have not come loose or knocked out of adjustment during operation. Covers that are used with high frequency or that are subject to the vibrations and impact from rough roadways can cause the cover to require adjustment.
LUBRICATING THE LATCHES
It is recommended that you periodically inspect and service the latches on each panel. Clean away any excess dirt or grime and lubricate with silicone spray. Ensure the latches move freely in and out to properly engage the side rail and provide proper performance with optimum security. Be careful not to overspray the cover. Wipe away any excess around the latch location.
Vortrak: Maximizing Retractable Usability
The word I find myself using with every great new release by BAK is apotheosis. I was trying to avoid it, this time, at least, but I see now Ive dropped the proverbial ball, so to speak. The thing is, if something is the apotheosis in its category, that means it is the best of the best–the peak! And it is hard not to describe the Vortrak as such.
Retractable hard covers are nothing new. Theyve been around for years. They have their pros and cons. But where the Vortrak shines is by eliminating nigh all of those cons and emphasizing and improving its pros . The extra locking locations that are adjustable really does it for me. Maybe for you it will be the ease of use or the two unlock chains, one on each side. The ease of use is such a great pro, and BAK made Vortrak even easier to use.
