  • Slice the zucchini into rounds. Thicker slices will result in more tender zucchini, while thinner will be more crispy.
  • Place the zucchini on two greased cookie sheets and bake for 5 minutes, until zucchini appears somewhat dried.
  • Using a basting brush, baste olive oil on the zucchini, then sprinkle the ranch seasoning, Parmesan cheese, and chopped bacon pieces.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  • Serve as a snack or a side for burgers, fish, chicken, and more!

How Can I Cut Thin Slices Of Zucchini For Chips

With 25 years in the kitchen under my belt, I have used a large variety of knives and cutting tools. Making thin slices of vegetables is something I have always struggled with doing. Sure, I can cut a thin slice of any vegetable, but, is it paper thin for the best chip result? Not always.

That’s where my secret weapon comes into play. I absolutely have to have a good quality mandolin slicer. My kitchen includes a Bron Coucke stainless steel slicer, but it is a bit pricey for most home kitchens. If you are looking for quality, versatile, and affordable, I stand behind the Dash Mandolin slicer. The price can’t be beaten and the slices are thin enough, plus you have other fun slicing and dicing options included.

Why Is Zucchini A Good Substitution Food

    Baked Zucchini Ranch Parmesan Chips

People are using zucchini to replace foods that are less than healthy like white flour pasta and, of course, potato chips. Thats what caught my attention.

As I said, it is low in calories and high in fiber, two things that look good when you are trying to find ways to cut back on foods that add pounds instead of nutrition.

Zucchini is keto and paleo-friendly, too, and its flexible. I can use it in tasty, healthy desserts like zucchini brownies or oat cookies. It is a practical choice for a side or main dish as well.

What surprised me, though, was how well it worked as a snack food, specifically for crispy, homemade, tasty chips.

These Cool Ranch Zucchini Chips Are Like Low

Store-bought potato chips are notoriously unhealthy. Truth be told, they are okay in moderation, especially brands that focus on the basic ingredients of potatoes, oil, and salt. However, its hard to snack on chips in reasonable amounts, which is why people tend to eat too many chips too often.

If you miss potato chips, try a healthier, homemade option: Zucchini chips! Youll enjoy the crispiness, that satisfying crunch, along with the delicious flavor of cool ranch.

    • Homemade Ranch Seasoning this homemade ranch seasoning is healthy and free of preservatives. Plus, you probably already have all the ingredients in your pantry already!
    • Parchment Paper... using parchment paper means we wont need to oil the bottoms of the baked zucchini to stop them from sticking to the baking sheet. So you can use less oil, and save calories and fat. Best of all, parchment paper makes cleanup easy!

Homemade Ranch Zucchini Chips are low carb, low calorie and an absolute must try healthy chip!

    Chips without the guilt.

That’s what I like to call these zucchini chips.

There’s no guilt when enjoying them. Super flavorful with a homedae dried ranch seasoning on them. Low in calories, only 29 for a ½ cup!!!!

Of course you must have known I would create another version of zucchini chips after the Salt & Vinegar ones were such a hit.

The kiddies and I brainstormed some flavors of chips they like and we came up with these to try first. If all goes well I’ve got 3 other flavors I will be experimenting with.

But this time I ran into a problem. I switched out the regular, standard, non fancy, no temperature dehydrator that I used for the other chips.

Why did I try a different dehydrator you ask when the other one worked perfectly fine?

Because the hubby has this expensive, many temperature setting one he uses to make jerky and I thought I’d try it, maybe it will take less time then the one I have, I thought.

The next difference was I used my mandolin and not my food processor to slice the zucchini. The mandolin made them paper thin as you can see. I think I like the thicker way the food processor sliced them.

Problem 1: Using a mega dehydrator that has temperature settings made the paper thin zucchini chips stick to the grates and were ruined. The setting was for fruits and vegetables and it was way too hot in there. I couldn’t even peel them off.

    Cool Ranch Zucchini Chips

How thinly you slice your zucchini will affect how long it’ll take in the oven. We recommend checking on the chips after about an hour, though it’ll almost definitely take longer than that. If you’re using an air fryer, they’ll cook much faster, but you’ll need to work with much smaller batches. Got a mandolin? Now is the time to use it.

Please note: This Homemade Ranch Seasoning recipe will make extra than what you need for this particular zucchini chip recipe. They will cook fast at 450 F in your oven. Then you want to broil them until they turn golden brown. You can also airfry these chips at 400 F. for 3-4 minutes per side. Make sure you spray with olive oil when you flip them. Either way, you will be mouth happy.

Can I Dip Vegetable Chips In Something

    Baked Zucchini Ranch Parmesan Chips

You know how we just talked about them being healthier? To keep that health, you really want to eat them without a dip. That said, if you want, you can definitely dip them into anything you prefer. Ranch, ketchup, barbecue sauce, honey mustard, or whatever is your preference works well with these.

If you want a great healthier dip, my favorite is to mix nonfat plain Greek yogurt with ranch seasoning. It’s an excellent high protein and low-calorie dip.

Getting my kids to love their veggies has always been a challenge, but these zucchini coins literally flew off the platter. Seems like I need to figure out a way to put a twist on some other summertime veggies with Hidden Valley!

What Are The Health Benefits Of Zucchini

Why zucchini? Lets start there. Zucchini is a summer squash that is low in saturated fat and high in nutritional value. Although, you may think of it as a vegetable, technically, its a fruit similar to melons or cucumbers.

The zucchini is a rich source of vitamins and minerals such as:

    • Phosphorus
    • Thiamine
    • Vitamin C

In most cases, that is true whether you are eating it raw or cook like a crisp. Also, it is high in fiber, antioxidants and may improve digestion and lower blood sugar levels.

    How To Store Zucchini Chips

An air tight container is a must for keeping these fresh and crispy. I have used large plastic storage bags or containers with lids that are lined with paper towels.

These are good in an air tight container for up to one week after making them. It helps me a lot to portion them so I don’t eat the whole batch at once, but if I do, that’s okay. They are delicious and healthier than other options for snacking.
