Wanted Man Arrested In Nc In Connection With Fatal Shooting On Elm Grove Court In Virginia Beach
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. A man is dead and another has been arrested after a shooting on Elm Grove Court in Virginia Beach this week.
Police said the homicide happened in the 500 block of Elm Grove Court at Baker Woods Apartments on Tuesday night. 28-year-old Marquis Lamont Alston sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Police said they were called to the scene around 6:30 p.m.
Two days after the shooting, on Thursday, Virginia Beach police said 32-year-old Jamel Isaiah Thorogood of Virginia Beach had been arrested without incident in Oxford, North Carolina, with the help of the Granville County Sheriffs Office.

Police said the shooting was domestic and the victim and suspect knew each other. They believe Thorogood gained access to the residence and fatally shot Alston. He then fled the scene and was at large until he was apprehended Thursday.
Thorogood is charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Hes being held by the Granville County Sheriffs Department, awaiting extradition back to Virginia Beach.

10 On Your Side learned the woman who lives in the apartment is the mother of the suspects child. Her boyfriend was visiting the apartment and is the man who died.
One Dead One Injured After Shooting At Virginia Beach Apartment Complex
The Virginia Beach Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another man injured Wednesday morning.
According to dispatch, police got the call to respond to the 5600 block of Lone Holly Lane at 12:28 a.m.
That’s the Baker Woods Apartments, which are right off of Newtown Road.
When police got there, they found two men who had been shot.
One man died on the way to the hospital, and the other is now in stable condition.
The man who died has been identified as Jakhari Hall,19.

Men Arrested In Connection To Virginia Beach Shooting That Killed 19
Two men were arrested in connection with a July shooting in Virginia Beach that killed a 19-year-old and injured an 18-year-old.
The Virginia Beach Police Department responded to a shooting at the 5600 block of Lone Holly Lane just before 12:30 a.m. on July 20. Baker Woods Apartments, off Newtown Road, are at that address.
Officers found two men with gunshot wounds. The 19-year-old, Jakhari Hall of Virginia Beach, was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The 18-year-old victim, who was not identified, sustained a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening. He was in stable condition following his injuries, according to a release from Virginia Beach police.
Joshua James, 18, of Virginia Beach, was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree murder, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Johnathan Cook-Lawrence, 20, of North Carolina, was arrested Aug. 4. He was charged with accessory to murder after the fact and was extradited to Virginia Beach.
The case remains under investigation.
