H& M is pleased to share the news of its upcoming print collaboration with the iconic British wallpaper and textile house GP & J Baker, which was founded over 100 years ago in 1884. The womenswear collection features cherished GP & J Baker archival prints in fashionable designs by the H& M in-house team and will be available in selected stores worldwide, as well as online, from 2 August.
We are thrilled and honoured to be collaborating with H& M. The prints selected are part of GP & J Bakers unique DNA. They are some of our most iconic and most treasured designs, so to see them continuing their journey into a new arena in such an innovative and interesting way in the world of fashion is a wonderful prospect,

The GP & J Baker prints used throughout the collection embrace some of the most-loved from the house along with those sourced from its vast archive. Included are prints like Magnolia, which William Turner painted for G P & J Baker in 1913. The classic Oriental Bird, Blossom and Hydrangea Bird, which are mixed with strong geometric patterns such as Fretwork, an homage to the decorative inlay work of the Art Deco designer Jean Durand.
The collection is light and sheer with a wide range of sophisticated and romantic pieces. Silhouettes are long, fluid and voluminous with details such as puff shoulders, balloon sleeves, lace inserts and contrast print trims.

Behind The Scenes Of Gp & J Baker’s Unlikely Collaboration With H& m
It’s common for home design and fashion companies to collaborate. But one partnership this season turned heads in the design world because of its unlikely pairing: GP & J Baker, the heritage British textile house trading in pretty florals, and H& M, the Swedish fast-fashion retailer, which doesn’t need much explaining thanks to its ubiquitous presence worldwide. In a collection that hit stores last week, GP & J Baker adapted prints from its vast archive to a series of dresses, blouses, skirts, and flowy pants whose rich patterns belie their affordable price tags. This just might be our final piece of evidence that the once-snubbed “granny florals,” which have been creeping back into vogue with the likes of de Gournay’s collaboration with Aquazzura, are officially a hit. To get a sense of how this marriage of archival textiles and mass fashion came to be, AD PRO caught up with GP & J Baker’s MD and creative director, Ann Grafton.
AD PRO: So, how did this project first begin?
Ann Grafton: We were really excited to be approached by the H& M design team back in autumn 2017. It was after that initial conversation that the concept for the collaboration came about. H& M felt the iconic prints from the GP & J Baker archive would work beautifully within their summer collection.

Swedish high street retailer H& M has announced news of an upcoming print collaboration with GP & J Baker.
An iconic British wallpaper and textile house, GP & J Baker was founded by brothers George Percival and James Baker more than 100 years ago in 1884 and has been a proud holder of The Queens Royal Warrant since 1982.
One of few collections that H& M has created in collaboration with a heritage brand 2018 has already seen it work with Moschino and Love Stories the entire range of clothing has been given a print-heavy makeover.
