On 17 August 2010, the first episode of The Great British Bake Off was shown on BBC Two. It stayed on BBC Two for four years, grew in popularity and became the most popular programme on that channel. In its fifth series it was moved to BBC One where it stayed for three years. It was the most-watched programme on British television in 2015 and 2016. Following extended negotiations, Love Productions announced that the seventh series of the show would be the last broadcast by the BBC. On 12 September 2016, Love agreed to a three-year deal to broadcast the show on Channel 4. However, BBC Studios still owns the global distribution rights to the show, which are set for renewal in 2028. Giedroyc and Perkins subsequently announced that they would not be returning when the show moved to its new network. On 22 September 2016, Berry announced that she would also be leaving the show when it moved to Channel 4, while Hollywood later announced he would stay. In March 2017, it was announced that Prue Leith would join Hollywood as a judge, while Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig would take over as presenters. After 3 years presenting the show, Toksvig announced her departure in 2020, and was replaced by Matt Lucas. On 6 December 2022, Lucas announced that he would leaving the show after three series.

Why we think its great: This episode stars the cast of the best TV comedy , Derry Girls. Its hysterical because the cast is absolutely wonderful its hard to determine whether theyre all in character or whether the show characters are just them, but thats part of what makes it so funny. Shocking no one, Nicola Coughlan seems to have her wits about her the most, as far as baking goes.
Favorite moment: Can I say all of it? Bake Off contestants are usually extremely accomplished home bakers who give incredibly detailed explanations of their process and inspirations. When the camera pans to Siobhán McSweeney , she says, I have put my sponge into the oven, that is on. And Im putting it in till its baked. Detailed! We like it. Few moments in Bake Off history stand out as much as the infamous “bingate,” otherwise known as that time a contestant threw his project away rather than present it to the judges. The story is a tragic one–the way the show was edited suggested sabotage. Diana, in the aired version of events, was shown removing Iain’s Baked Alaska from the freezer before it was ready, causing it to melt In reality, Diana had done no such thing, and had in fact only moved the Baked Alaska from the freezer for a split second to make space for her own bake.
Regardless, the net result was the same–a bake in the trash, a garbage can toted up to the judge’s table, and Iain being sent home. Diana was withdrawn from the competition the next week, though not because of the bingate controversy–she suffered a head injury the night before the episode was scheduled to be taped.
Eventually, Nancy was proclaimed the winner of a very, very memorable season.

Why Are The First Three Seasons Of The Great British Bake
The Great British Bakeoff currently has 7 full seasons with the 8th one being filmed currently. However, on Netflix there’s only four seasons, with the original seasons 1, 2, and 3 missing. Has anyone, either from the show or from Netflix, stated why these three are missing? Are there any plans to include them on Netflix?
To clarify, I am not looking for a place to watch these, but rather seeking an authoritative answer as to WHY they aren’t available.
Note:I am assuming from your question that you are based in the USA, and the answer below is based on this assumption. The answer below also contains some conjecture, but given the secretive and byzantine nature of most streaming/airing/export arrangements, I suspect this is as close of an answer as we’re going to get using public knowledge.

The Great British Bake-Off, like many BBC imports, was originally aired in the US on PBS. PBS began airing the show in early 2015, after the highly popular fifth series aired in the UK:
The October finale was 2014s second most watched TV program in the U.K., bested only by the England-Uruguay World Cup match.
Subsequently, PBS aired Series 4 as “Season 2”, Series 6 as “Season 3”, and Series 7 as “Season 4”. Finally, in summer 2018, PBS aired Series 3 as “Season 5”.

Roku Channels Gift Of Early Bake
The new season of The Great American Baking Show will premiere in 2023, and be hosted by Ellie Kemper and Zach Cherry, while both Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood will judge. Its also produced by Love Productions.
But right now, you can watch the original on The Roku Channel.
This means we can relive the seasons with hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, and original judge Mary Berry, who I desperately miss. Bake-Off is still good competition reality television, but is not the same without them.
Sometime in the last monththough Im not exactly sure when, as Ive only seen scattered social media references, the earliest of which was Sept. 2the seasons were added. They werent on Roku Channels September list of new shows, though.
This seems similar to what Netflix did, adding seasons of The Mole before its own version of The Mole premieres, to get its viewers used to the show.

Lucas joined the Bake Off world in Season 11 taking over Sandi Toksvigs spot next to Noel Fielding. After Lucas made his announcement, Fielding shared that he was sad his co-presenter was leaving the show.
Farewell buddy thank you for 3 amazing years. I will really miss your spark and huge smile in the tent and I will miss your kindness as a person and to all the bakers, Fielding shared on Instagram. I will miss your sense of the absurd and your silliness. I will miss all the times the four of us giggled together. I will miss your ability to turn into a fully formed character at the drop of a hat. I will miss you pretending to be Boris Johnson singing David Bowie songs and I will miss your upbeat nature and positive vibes.
Fielding wished Lucas luck on his next adventure and said he looked forward to watching as a fan.
As of now, Channel 4 has not announced if Great British Bake Off will replace Lucas with another host. The competition show airs in the U.S. on Netflix as The Great British Baking Show.
