We recently took a trip through the Eastern Shore of Maryland and explored St. Michaels and Easton, then Ocean City, and back to Cambridge before heading home. Today I am covering our time spent in Easton and Oxford along with a recipe for Smith Island Cake!

Our work lunch was provided by this restaurant today. I had eaten there years ago but I understand its under new ownersthe box lunches that we got were good, but I have two suggestions use a nice grainy bread instead of potato bagels, and, putsome mayo and mustard packets in with the sandwich, otherwise its dry. The dab of honey mustard on our smoked turkey was tantalizing but not enough. Overall though, it was a nice treat, and they deliver will catering orders for a fee.More

Crackerjacks Toys And Childrens Books
After lunch, we walked around to check out a few of the shops. The favorite for Evan and Claire was Crackerjacks Toys and Childrens Books.
The shop is filled with a variety of favorite and unique books, legos, toys, and board games. They especially enjoyed the train table. Evan picked out this Lego Make Your Own Movie Kit which was perfect for keeping him occupied at the hotels.
The Scottish Highland Creamery
The other side of the Capsize building houses The Scottish Highland Creamery. It was the perfect way to beat the heat. Service is available through the window with a couple of benches on the patio with minimal shade. Open seasonally.
Claire had about too much excitement for one day. She normally naps two hours in the afternoon at home, but rarely slows down when we are on vacation. Between the food and the scenic, calming water view from the restaurant, she finally succumbed to sleep .

Stopped in to pick up a smoked Turkey & was expecting the store to be busy as it was lunch time . Not bad at all as we got our Smoked Turkey right away. It would be great if they sold the ham slices in smaller quantities as they do the Turkey.The sandwich menu looked really good so we decided to get some for lunch. We ended up ordering the Tavern Club box lunch & Mediterranean Veggie. Both sandwiches were excellent with their thick sliced signature ham and turkey with bacon & veggies/dressing balancing the Club. The Mediterranean was also tasty with a variety of fresh veggies. Our side of potato salad was just right & not too heavy. We wanted some soup but they didnt have any today.They have a few tables mixed in with displays of cakes and other items that are available for purchase in the store. Service was friendly and fast.
