Problem: It’s Not Cooking Evenly

If you make some toast and notice that some pieces are toasted more than others, your oven is not cooking evenly. To confirm that your oven isn’t cooking evenly, you can also try baking a cake or roasting an entire chicken.

Cause: Like an oven that won’t heat at all or doesn’t heat to the correct temperature, the first things you should check are the heating elements and temperature sensor.

Fix: Preheat the oven and do a quick visual test to see if the heating elements are fully glowing red and check that the temperature sensor’s resistance is rising with the temperature of the oven. If either are not working as they should, replace them.

Cause: Some ovens cook differently, and you may just need to learn how it cooks. However, your oven not cooking evenly could also have to do with the position of the racks or the cookware you’re using.

Fix: Baking pans, for instance, are supposed to be reflective. If they’ve become discolored over time, try removing the buildup with a deep clean or replacing them altogether. Also, take note of how the oven tends to cook and make adjustments to how you cook with the oven, such as rotating the food while you cook or adjusting the height of the racks for certain foods.

Burnt Out Broil Element

If the broil element has holes or blisters, replace it with a new one. Under normal use, the broil element will not develop holes or blisters. If your element does develop holes or blisters, replace it immediately for safety reasons.

To determine if the broil element is defective, test it for continuity with a multimeter. If the element does not have continuity, it needs to be replaced.

If the voltage is detected, you have not disconnected your oven from its power source correctly. There should be no voltage present before you move on to the next step.

The Oven Temperature Sensor Or Bulb Is Out

Many electric ovens have a temperature sensor that monitors the oven temperature constantly. If the sensor becomes defective, the oven may not heat correctly. Most sensors have a digital display on the oven. Before you replace a sensor you believe is defective, make sure to check the oven elements and wires first.

Ovens that do not have a sensor use a temperature-sensing bulb to control the temperature of the oven. Make sure this bulb is not loose or burnt out.

The ignitor is the entire unit located at the back of your gas oven. The terminals are the two wires that connect to the Oven Control.

Tips For Successfull Air Frying

How To Use Convection On Your Range
  • Dont use much oil, if any. Saturating the food with oil will have soggy results and causes smoke.
  • Use oil with a smoke point of 400° or higher like Avocado, Grapeseed or Extra Virgin Oilve Oil.
  • Preheat the oven, even if it says not to.
  • Use a large drip pan to catch any drips/crumbs
  • Use parchment paper on the drip pan with greasy foods to catch oil
  • Dont over crowd the air fry tray. Air needs to be able to circulate around the food
  • Most things will need to be flipped for even air frying
  • Cooking times and temperatures are not the same as a counter-top unit that is ¼ of the size.
  • Run an exhaust fan when air frying
  • Spray or brush the air fry tray with oil to prevent food from sticking
