Tips For Making Seasoned Oyster Crackers
- Crackers Be sure to use the best oyster crackers you can find. I like to use Nabisco or OTC oyster crackers but youll also want to make sure theyre fresh and not stale. Nobody likes a soft cracker.
- Butter I use salted butter for this seasoned oyster cracker recipe. You can use unsalted butter but then you may want to add a pinch of salt to balance the flavors just a bit.
- Ranch Seasoning Mix Any brand of ranch seasoning mix will work well for this recipe but I like to take it one step further and use my HOMEMADE Ranch Seasoning Mix. Its super simple and ready in seconds.

You don’t have to bake your oyster crackers. However, they definitely taste better if you do.
Baking the crackers helps for the oil and spices to absorb, the crackers will be less greasy, and that oven time adds a nice toasty vibe to this comforting snack.
However, if you really don’t want to mess with any oven time, I would suggest subbing in melted, unsalted butter in the place of the oil in this recipe!

Crunchy Ranch Seasoned Oyster Crackers Coated In Dill And Garlic A Super Easy Snack Mix
My original plan was to make them as gifts for others, however, they have been such a huge hit with my kids and husband, its hard to keep them in the house for longer than a day or two!
My kids enjoy these for snacks, with lunches, paired with tuna, and even in their soups/chili!
To change things up a bit and add a slight kick to these, I sprinkled a bit of Cajun seasoning on top of the crackers prior to baking in the oven. Not only did it add some great flavor, but it also gave these a slight kick without becoming spicy. My kids havent mentioned anything about spice, so dont be afraid to add a little Cajun seasoning to yours as well!

Ranch Oyster Crackers Variations
This recipe is totally delicious as is. However, if you’re looking for a little something extra, you can try some of these flavors.
- Parmesan. Sprinkle about ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese over crackers before baking for some cheesy goodness.
- Make it spicy! Add teaspoon ground cayenne and 1-2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes to make your crackers hot and spicy.
- Cajun Seasoning will add a bit of spice and very unique flavor. You can add 1 tablespoon in addition to the ranch seasoning or use about 2 tablespoons to replace the ranch.
- Nutritional Yeast. Add a couple tablespoons nutritional yeast for that salty, cheesy flavor without the cheese!

As I got older and became a mom of my own, I took on the tradition of Holiday baking and creating goodie tins for the neighbors. The only difference, I completely had forgotten about those tasty crackers, therefore, never made them until recently!

How To Make Ranch Oyster Crackers
A lot of people bake these, but I prefer a no bake method. Not sure why I get these thoughts in my mind, but heating up the oven for these just feels … excessive? Excessive of what? I am not sure.
So without the oven, I simply add a liquid fat like butter or oil and toss the crackers in it. Then sprinkle the seasoning on top and toss until all the crackers are covered.
