Finish Pizza With Aromatic Herbs
Once Ive added my mozzarella and other cheeses, I like to finish my pizza with a few Italian herbs such as thyme and oregano. Although you can find dried Italian seasoning blends at most grocery stores, I usually have a selection of fresh herbs growing in my garden. This makes it easy for me to run out to the garden and snip a few fresh herbs like parsley, basil, oregano, marjoram, thyme to add to all my culinary creations. I also usually add a sprinkle of parmesan cheese to finish off my pizza before popping it in the oven to bake to a crispy golden brown while melting all the gooey cheese.

Tips For Perfect Pizza Dough:
2. Let it RISE! You really need to take the time to let the pizza dough rise. Ive tried many no-rise or 15-minute pizza crust recipes, but I dont think any of them taste as good as this one. You can also make the pizza dough the night before and let it rise in the fridge, in an airtight container, overnight, to save time.
3. Check the flour! In the recipe I call for bread flour but all-purpose flour works perfectly well for this recipe . If youd like to use whole wheat flour, check out my Wheat Pizza Crust Recipe!
4. To add flavor: This is a basic pizza dough recipe, but you can spice it up to make it more flavorful. I sometimes add a couple dashes of garlic powder, dried basil, and oregano at step number 2 below.
Tasty Tips + Notes For Making Homemade Pizza
- Avoid the struggle of stretching pizza dough by letting it rise in advance.
- Never add toppings to raw pizza dough.
- Cook the pizza twice. First, cook the premade dough naked without any toppings. On the second trip to the oven, add all the ingredients and cook the pizza until the cheese melts and the crust is golden brown.
- Brush olive oil around the perimeter of the dough to create a golden crust.
- Season the crust. Sprinkle the crust with parmesan and a light sprinkle of salt.
- Add any fresh herbs, like basil, after the pizza is done baking
- Pizza is great for game day served with sous vide chicken wings with bleu cheese dressing

Bake On The Pizza Stone / Baking Steel
When using a pizza stone or steel, very good and fast baking results can also be achieved in your oven at home. The stone is simply pre-heated in the oven and stores the heat absorbed and delivers it directly to the dough. As a result, the crust is very crispy, the dough is fluffy and the taste is significantly improved. In addition, the baking time is shortened to only 4 to 6 minutes. The stone usually consists of the material cordierite or fireclay. By the way, the thicker the stone or baking steel is, the longer it can store the temperature, but it also takes longer to heat up. The stone and the steel can be purchased in the Net or in specialized shops at relatively low prices. The purchase is worthwhile also for occasional baking.

Whats The Best Temp To Reheat Pizza
Reheat the Pizza in the Oven With that in mind, start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Add the slices of pizza on a foil before placing it on top of a rack to promote an even distribution of heat. You can also use a sheet pan, which you have to preheat to ensure the pizza retains its crispy crust.
Bake Pizza In The Oven
The pizza is baked in the preheated oven at very hot temperature. Traditionally it is baked on stone in a wood-fired oven at about 750 to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit . At home, only a normal oven will be available for baking. In a standard oven temperatures between 400 and rarely 600 degrees are reached. The homemade pizza needs a little longer baking time than in the Italian wood-fired stove until the crust it is nice and crispy. There are also special pizza ovens with which you can reach higher temperatures at home. The use of a baking stone or steel also significantly improves the baking result in a standard oven. In this article you will learn how to prepare the best homemade pizzas.

Faqs For Making Par Baked Dough For Pizza
Why pre-cook pizza dough?
Pre-cooking pizza dough makes sure the center of your homemade pizza doesnt get soggy. When you par bake pizza dough, it cooks halfway through and the air can touch the top of the dough. It also gets more fluffy and gives the pizza crust the opportunity to bake to a perfect golden brown.
When do you add toppings to parbaked pizza dough?
Once pizza dough thats parbaked is done cooking , you take it out of the oven, add toppings and then stick the entire pizza back in the oven. Cook at a higher temperature until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
Do you need to par bake pizza dough on a pizza stone?
This is a gray area for me. If you have a pizza peel, so you can slide the pizza directly into the oven on a preheated pizza stone, then I dont find it necessary to parbake the dough. However, if youre going to take the preheated pizza stone out of the oven, then add toppings, Id suggest parbaking it for 3 minutes, because it will cook as you assemble pizza toppings.
How do you know how long to bake pizza with pre baked dough?
Eyeball it! It usually takes 8-12 minutes in my oven to bake pizza after adding the toppings. I like when the cheese is bubbling, but not yet turning brown.

Favorite Homemade Pizza Toppings
Once youve got your quick and easy pizza crust ready to go, its time to add your sauce and toppings. Depending on what type of pizza youre craving, you can add traditional tomato sauce, , garlic butter sauce, or even Alfredo sauce if youre making a white pizza.
Then its finally time to add your choice of cheese and load up on all your favorite toppings. Some of my favorite toppings include roasted red peppers, turkey pepperoni, mushrooms, capers, olive tapenade, sun-dried tomatoes, bacon, sausage, red onions, sliced green onions, and black olives.
My chosen pizza toppings vary according to what kind of pizza Im craving. A recent homemade pizza masterpiece used pesto for the sauce, mozzarella and dollops of ricotta for the cheese, topped with a generous portion of crispy eggplant, artichokes, grilled chicken, and finished off with a sprinkling of oregano.

Crispy Pizza Crust: Don’ts
When learning how to make pizza crust crispy, knowing what not to do is just as important as knowing what things you should do. Avoid these pizza no-no’s below to ensure your crust stays as crispy as possible.
- Do not cut the pizza into slices before you bake it. This allows the oil from the pizza to move and to drip, which can lead to your crust turning soggy. Always bake a pizza unsliced and save the cuts for last.
- Do not add too many toppings, including cheese, vegetables, or meats. The more weight you add to the top of the pizza dough with heavy toppings, the more challenging it will be for the oven heat to properly crisp the dough. Keep it light.
- Don’t add extra liquid to your tomato sauce. Make sure the tomatoes are entirely drained and blend them with your preferred spices and seasonings with no additional water or fluid. A wetter sauce means a wetter, soggier crust, which is not ideal for crisping.
- Don’t attempt a thick crust. Keeping the layer of dough as thin as possible is the way to go when learning how to make pizza crust crispy.
