EASY Pork Tenderloin In Oven Recipe – So Simple, So TASTY!

A decent rule of thumb is to roast pork loin at 350 degrees F for 25 minutes every pound of meat . Make sure the internal temperature reaches at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit by using a thermometer to determine when its finished cooking. Allowing your pork loin to rest for at least three minutes before serving is recommended.

How To Make Pork Tenderloin In The Oven

Preheat oven to 425 F.

Line a sheet pan with aluminum foil.

In a bowl, whisk together the mustard, olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano and balsamic vinegar.

Pour the mixture over the pork and rub to coat.

Place meat on the baking sheet.

Add the vegetables. I used Brussel sprouts. Season them with salt and pepper and drizzle with some olive oil on top.

Bake for 20-30 minutes, until the internal temperature of the meat is 150 F. Take out of the oven, place on a cutting board and let the meat rest for 10 minutes. You can cover with foil, while resting.

At this point Brussel Sprouts may be done cooking or require a few more minutes of roasting. Cook until they are crispy and golden brown.

Slice the meat and serve.

At What Temperature Do You Cook Pork Tenderloin

Pork tenderloin is a very lean cut of meat so you need to be very careful not to overcook it. I have found that an oven temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit/190 degrees Celsius works well when cooking pork tenderloin. If you cook pork tenderloin at a higher temperature you will run the risk of drying the meat out.

Pork tenderloin temp between 139 and 143 degrees Fahrenheit on the Veken and ThermoPro TP-20 remote thermometers with the Thermoworks Signals chillin in the background.

One of the best techniques is searing the tenderloin in a skillet first and then transferring it to the oven. Ive found that the skillet itself retains a lot of heat so its a good idea to transfer the tenderloin out of the skillet to a rimmed baking sheet with a wire rack.

The wire rack allows for airflow and heat to pass all the way around the tenderloin for even cooking. Leaving the tenderloin in an already heated skillet, especially a cast-iron one will overcook the bottom of the tenderloin. You can tell the difference in the pictures below.

    • Like any other meat, dont serve the pork tenderloins right out of the oven. Put them on rest on the table for 5-7 minutes so that it reabsorbs all the juices around them.
    • A little pink inside the tenderloins does not mean that its undercooked. Its actually a sign of perfectly cooked tenderloins.

What Is The Difference Between Pork Loin And Pork Tenderloin

Pork loin and pork tenderloin are two different cuts of meat from the pig. Pork loin is a larger cut of meat that comes from the back of the pig, while pork tenderloin is a smaller cut of meat that comes from the front of the pig near the ribs.

Pork loin is typically roasted whole, while pork tenderloins are usually cut into smaller pieces and cooked using other methods such as grilling, broiling, or baking. Pork tenderloin is also a leaner cut of meat than pork loin.

Cooking Pork Tenderloin On The Grill

Cooking pork tenderloin on the grill is similar to the stovetop and oven method detailed above in that you will sear the tenderloin on the outside on high heat and then cook it on the cooler side of the grill.

    • If using a gas grill, preheat it to medium-high heat with one side cooler than the other
    • If using a charcoal grill, build a two-zone fire with 75 percent of your coals in one area and the rest next to it.
    • Rub olive oil all over the outside and then season the tenderloin with whatever you desire.
    • Sear the tenderloin on all sides for a minute or two on the hot part of the grill and then move it to the cool side. Set your temperature alert for 138 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Pull the tenderloin off the heat at 138 degrees Fahrenheit and let it rest for 5 minutes. Slice and serve.

What Spices And Sauces To Use

The recipe below is very basic and doesnt give recommendations for herbs and spices, so Ill do that here.

If youre brining the tenderloin, do not add any salt to the meat before cooking, and make sure that if youre using a seasoning blend, it doesnt contain salt either.

Having said that, you can add all kinds of different flavors to your pork. Popular pork seasonings are rosemary and thyme. I also like chili powder, garlic powder, and a touch of smoked paprika. A touch of cumin would go well in there too, and even a little brown sugar. Italian seasoning or some dried oregano and basil are nice with pork too.

In general, youll want to use about 1/2 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon of any one seasoning for a pork tenderloin, and a maximum of 3 seasonings. The exception would be if youre using something really potent like cayenne pepper. Mix just 1/4 teaspoon of that with other seasonings in a small bowl before sprinkling it on the pork so that it disperses better.

You can also serve some lemon wedges on the side for people to squeeze over their pork. That will work even if youre using a different sauce.

My final suggestion is apple sauce, which is classic with pork dishes. You can serve the applesauce straight from the fridge, or warm it in the microwave before serving. Any way that you do it, the taste will pair perfectly with the pork.

What Is The Reverse Sear For Roasting Meat

    Simple Smoked Pork Tenderloin Recipe

Like with the roasted pork butt, I use the final-sear method that I first learned from roasting prime rib according to Serious Eats instructions.

Basically, you put the roast into a moderate or low oven . You take it out when it reaches the correct temperature , then cover with foil and let it rest for a good 30 minutes. This lower temperature cooking and the rest time, keep the pork loin nice and juicy.

Finally, you crank up the oven really high and give the roast a last blast in there for 10 minutes. That extra heat really browns and crisps up the outside of the roast, for extra flavor and texture, while not penetrating into the roast to take away the juiciness we created earlier. Then you carve it immediately and serve. No need to rest it again because the inside of the roast already had its resting time. Pretty cool, right? Were going to use this technique here and youll see that you get juicy pork loin while still having a nice crust.

What To Look For In A Tenderloin

Pork tenderloin is often sold in individual packages in the meat section of the grocery store. An individual tenderloin isnt very much meat it usually weighs about 1 to 1 1/2 pounds. So youll often find two tenderloins in one package. If you come home with two, just cook both. Leftovers keep beautifully and are great in sandwiches. Or freeze one, if two is more than you can eat within a few days.

Pork tenderloins are also often sold packaged in a marinade. Personally, I avoid these, as I would prefer to season the meat myself . Its very quick and easy to roll a pork tenderloin in some salt and spices, or to create a paste of garlic and ginger to rub all over it.

Additional marinade should be brushed onto the pork tenderloin before baking it in a preheated oven at 425°F for around 15-20 minutes, or until the meat reaches a temperature of 145°F, then remove it from the oven. Cooking the pork tenderloin at a high temperature of 425 degrees F ensures that it cooks rapidly and that it does not dry out throughout the cooking process.

For the juiciest pork tenderloin, make a quick pan sauce. To do this, using the same skillet you cooked the pork in, add about 3/4 cup of liquid. You could use apple cider , wine, chicken stock, vegetable stock or even beef broth. Cook that liquid until reduced by half then swirl in a tablespoon of butter.

    • Olive Oil: Any mild oil such as vegetable or canola oil, avocado oil and coconut oil can be used as well.
    • Seasonings: Brown sugar, garlic powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt and black pepper. This oven baked pork chop recipe uses a very simple dry rub that is super flavorful. However, pork is a versatile meat so feel free to customize the seasonings and spices to your taste.
