Very Rev Thomas S Willis Cathedral Parish & Cathedral Basilica Of St Augustine
From our very first phone conversation, then bringing your team to assess and, in turn, make recommendations for the planned renovations of an historic church first constructed in the 1790s, to helping us make and address the punch list, you have been with us all the way. Your level of expertise and quality workmanship, combined with old world craftsmanship, would be enough to give your company high marks. But you bring the complete package and by this I mean the highest level of service. In turn, we ended up becoming a great team in bringing the renovation of the church where Americas First Parish worships on time and on budget!

Today, Patrick Baker & Sons serves customers throughout New England and across the country, reaching as far as Bermuda, England and Puerto Rico. Four of the Baker children work for the company full-time, and two of the Bakers grandsons have stepped into the business as well.

Patrick Baker & Sons, FairfieldJune 13, 2009
The Fairfield location that I visited has closed, but one is still open in Southington. Im sure its the same. The original proprietor has passed away since this was originally written.
Lets dispense with the caveats off the bat: I am not Catholic and I never was Catholic. I dont mean to offend anyone with this post. The store owner was cool with our visit and didnt seem to have a problem with us having some fun in his store. And lets face it purple silk robes are always fun.
As a pure curiosity, this place is awesome. Its one of those stores you knew in the back of head must exist, but you had no idea where it was or what it would be like. And now, at least I know.
Equal parts surreal, confusing, funny , beautiful, and spiritual, Patrick Baker and Sons is one of the preeminent purveyors of church goods in the region. The store has been around for about 50 years and theres clearly a market for this stuff.
In 1965 the Baker enterprise was founded by Patrick A. Baker, a native of Dublin, Ireland, The firm was located in Hartford and began as a church supply company servicing a great number of churches in the Northeast. Over the next 20 years, the company added catalog service and an Ecclesiastical Art Division. They have locations in
Fairfield and Southington and serve the entire northeasts needs for all things religious.
I had no idea they actually sold special cheap plastic bottles made in China for this. Awesome.

What began as a candle store led to what has become one of the biggest religious supplies distributors in the northeast, servicing thousands of religious organizations from Connecticut to Puerto Rico, even supplying vestments to the Pope.
Retired for several years now, the 85-year old Baker and his wife say they are blessed to have lived a very full, meaningful life colored by many friends, seven children, 20 grandchildren and a businesses legacy now carried on by their kids.
