On the display boxes in store it said that these apple chips are picked, sliced, and baked. It also said that they are crave-ably crunchy.
I have to agree that they are crunchy. I was expecting them to be like soft dried apples for some reason. They were not soft at all.
They definitely had a crunch when I bit into them just like biting into a potato chip.

Kids Love Apple Chips
One of our favorite fall activities is going apple picking and between those fun weekend trips, and the mountains of inexpensive apples taking over the produce department at the grocery store, we have a constant stream of fresh, mostly-local apples in the refrigerator from early September through November.
Its hard to argue that a more perfect snack than a raw apple exists, but Baked Apple Chips are giving them a run for their money. Its all about that chip appearance and texture, which tricks your brain into thinking its getting something way more decadent than a piece of fruit. If you dont believe me, the proof is in the pudding aka this sweet face. Lincoln goes nuts for Baked Apple Chips and I have zero problem giving him as many as he wants
I would 1000x prefer to give him fresh Baked Apple Chips than some cracker or pretzel with no nutritional value.

Paradise Green Dried Mango
Dried fruit is one of my favorite healthy snacks for a lot of reasons. It lasts a long time, so I dont have to worry about my fruit going soft in the fridge . Its a great source of vitamin C, which helps with iron absorption. And its just plain tasty.
Paradise Green dried mangos, in particular, is my favorite brand of dried fruit. It has just the right amount of sweetness and chew, and its calorie friendly, so I can feel like Im indulging without worrying about my weight.
I always grab some from Costco whenever I can because it keeps well in my pantry. A bag dried mango of typically sells for about $13, but every once in a while, Costco sells them for a couple dollars cheaper and thats when I stock up.

How To Make Baked Apple Chips
Start by slicing fresh apples 1/8 thick. I recommend a mandoline slicer or an extremely sharp knife and steady grip. You can fit roughly 1-1/2 medium-sized apples to a half sheet pan so plan on having at least 3 apples on hand if you want to make two half sheet pans worth.
Next, use a round cookie cutter to cut out the hard centers or do what I did and use an icing tip You CAN bake the apple chips with the centers still intact but they get kind of sharp and can irritate your mouth. Totally your call though.
Line your half sheet pans with parchment paper or silpats then line the apples up they can touch but dont let them overlap. Bake for 2 hours at 200 degrees, rotating the pans halfway through, or until an apple chip crisps up 2-3 minutes after taking one off the pan to test. The final baking time really depends on the moisture level of the apples, so dont be discouraged if theyre still a little soft after two hours. Just keep baking theyll get there!
Note: the apple chips will curl slightly when baked on parchment paper and stay flat when baked on silpats. I also noticed that crispier apples like Honeycrisp stay lighter throughout the baking process than softer apples like Priscillas, but the taste was unaffected.
Let the apple slices cool completely before packing into an airtight container or Ziplock bag, or, you know, devouring immediately!

About The Bare Company
I did a little research about the Bare Snacks Company that makes the Bare Apple Chips from Costco.
They believe that the less that you add, the more that you taste. On their website it also says that they slice real fruit and bake them up slowly for a one-of-a-kind crunch.
All of their snacks are made from simple real ingredients and they think that a snack should not only taste good but be good for you.
What I Loved
I really like that the bag includes a resealable zip-lock liner that is built in. This makes resealing and keeping the apple chips fresh so much simpler.
I also love that the apples were crunchy. Just like chips, you can grab a handful and snack on them.
Even when holding them in your bare hands, they dont make your hands feel sticky afterwards.
I also loved that they were made out of green apples. I personally prefer the taste of green apples.
Just a little bit of sour and sweet. If you dont like the taste of green apples, you probably wont like these.
There are different flavors available, such as apples chips made with fuji red apples, cinnamon apple chips, banana chips, coconut chips and many other flavors that the company makes.
While all these flavors are not sold at Costco I would love to try some of the other ones too.
I really like that these apple chips are also certified organic, free of preservatives, and that they had no added sugar.
They didnt have any added spices, they were really just green apples. You can even see the outside peel of the green apple on the chips.
