‘honey Baked Ham’ Set To Reopen At Temporary Destin Location Following Fire
DESTIN, Fla. — Four weeks after a fire, “Honey Baked Ham” is ready to reopen in Destin.
They’re in a new location on Harbor Boulevard, taking over the former location of Gilligan’s Seafood.
Owner Don Bryan says it’s been a challenge to get deliveries rescheduled and permits issued.
He said they got it all done in record time.
“Oh, I tell you what, it’s a Christmas miracle come early that we were able to find a location so quickly and be able to relaunch as fast as we were so that we can make sure that our customers don’t have holidays interrupted,” Bryan said.
They’ll be open Tuesday, their regular business hours, seven days a week.
Bryan says this is a temporary location for the winter holidays and possibly through Easter.
He’s still working on a plan for the future.

Honey Baked Ham Thriving In Temporary Destin Location After Building Burns Down
DESTIN, Fla. Thanksgiving meals are setting records for the Destin Honey Baked Ham branch this year. The store moved to a temporary location after a gas explosion burned down the main building in Oct.
People when they heard about the fire, I think they kind of got scared that they werent going to have their holiday meals, said owner Don Bryan. The fact that were back up. I think people are just grateful and coming back in and were grateful for them.
The store once on Crystal Beach Drive near the Destin Commons now sits on Harbor Blvd. at the old Gilligans Seafood location.
Bryan said this Thanksgiving season set records compared to previous years.
Weve been doing superb, said Bryan. Weve been blowing even last years out the door, so considering that were in a temporary spot, we had our building burned down less than two months ago, the fact that were beating last years numbers is incredible.
For Tuesdays pickup orders, Bryan said they had more than 2,000. 1,500 and counting Wednesday afternoon. The store will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
After the November holiday is over, Bryan is getting ready for the Christmas season. He said customers wanting to place orders needs to do them online.
The branch will remain in the temporary location through April. Bryan thanked the community for its support since the fire- two months ago.

Gas Explosion Causes Fire At Honey Baked Ham
DESTIN, Fla. Firefighters responded to the Honey Baked Ham store in Destin Monday morning for flames and smoke coming from the building.
According to Destin Fire Rescue crews, the store on Crystal Beach Drive was fully involved in flames around 2 a.m. Capt. Rebholz said a broken gas meter and valve caused the fire to spark from spewing natural gas. How the gas meter broke is still under investigation.
Fire crews heard the explosion from the station on Crystal Beach Drive Capt. Rebholz said the fire started on the exterior burning the landscape before traveling inside the store. He said the building is not a total loss but the damage is extensive.
WKRG News 5 has reached out to the store for more information. The fire comes just a month before Honey Baked Ham begins its busy season of Thanksgiving and holiday meals.
Crews from OCSO, South Walton, Okaloosa Island and North Bay Fire assisted the scene.
