Always heard great things about this establishment, I was looking forward to the experience. I’m totally NEVER going back. We had made a reservation for 4 and added on the reservation that there would be a baby with us. When we arrived, I believe the…manager, her name was Cindy welcomed us, telling us , while displaying her attitude. that the table they were going to put us at wouldn’t fit with a high chair, and that they would have to move us , we explained to her that we had put on the reservation that a baby would be with us. She stated that they didn’t know if the reservation was for 3 with a baby or 4 with a baby. Clearly they didn’t look at the information we sent. She then took us to a room , stuck us in the corner and not so nicely told us that the room would be full in 30 minutes. Not sure why she felt it was necessary to tell us that , the room only 3 people in it when we were seated and only 2 people in it when we left an hour later. Very disappointed in the treatment we received and will never be going back.More

When you arrive you walk through French doors, sparkling chandeliers over head, antiqued mirrors, French inspired furniture, beautiful seasonal decorations, gorgeous cakes on French porcelain platters topped with glass domes. Gwendolyn’s shops offer the most incredible experience from The Best Quiche You Will Ever Have to homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, even a true French Croque Monsieur. Behind the kitchen window you can see the master bakers gently sieving non-bromated flours from Vermont, there are large pots of French & Belgian Chocolate melting on the stove, cakes baking in the ovens and decorators frosting the most exquisite cakes.
Gwendolyns Cake Bake Shop’s have become the destination of Indiana for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and all the special occasions life offers.

As her existing fans know, Gwendolyn Rogers opened The Cake Bake Shop in 2014 at the Broad Ripple location. She recently opened her second location in Carmel, where The Cake Bake Shop glistens while nestled in the heart of City Center. Rogers attention to architectural detail is equal to her passion for details regarding incomparable comfort food and impeccable service. The Cake Bake Shop in Carmel is proof of that. Upon my first visit at the Carmel location, I was spellbound. It is wonderment redefined and evokes a welcoming environment to all who stroll through its doors.

Today was our 1st visit to the new Carmel location. We have been to Broadripple previously and been pleased. The Carmel location is breathtaking. So beautiful! Parking was also easy. The location is a bit hard to find so be mindful of that. It is tucked inside a building structure. Our server was very attentive and professional once he arrived. We were seated about 15 minutes before he greeted us. We also waited about 15 minutes past our reservation time to be seated which was reasonable. The chicken velvet soup and chicken salad croissant were show stoppers! Our lunch was delicious!! We were also very pleased with the cheesecake and the millionaire cake. Our only disappointment was that the award winning mint chocolate chip cake was not available. Our reservation was early in the day so I would not have expected anything to be sold out. He simply said it’s not at this location. I am not sure if that means never or just today. If running out of food is a problem I would suggest limiting walk-in bakery orders so that guests with reservations are given the full experience. The server did say they were short staffed so that may have been the problem? Overall I would recommend going at least once to experience this beautiful restaurant. It would also be lovely to offer a tour of the basement/bakery so we can see things in action! I missed that piece from your other location here.
