Can Dogs Eat Oatmeal

Yes. Oatmeal is a great source of fiber for dogs and is especially helpful with those that have a wheat sensitivity. Vitamin B in oats will help keep their coat shiny and thick. Be sure to never prepare oatmeal with dairy milk, as this often times will upset their stomach. Raw oatmeal can also be challenging to digest, which is why these treats are cooked. Read more about oatmeal safety here. Again, your dog is not meant to be eating people food, so moderation is very important.

To Make Pumpkin & Peanut Butter Dog Treats:

So let’s get to making some dog treats for our furry friends!

Begin by adding the oats to a food processor.

Grind them until you reach a fine powder.

Now add the pumpkin and peanut butter.

And blend to combine until you make a sticky dough.

Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface. I used brown rice flour as Chickpea is sensitive to wheat, but if your dog isn’t you can use wheat flour. You could alternatively set aside some of the ground oats to use for this as well.

Use a small cookie cutter, , but any shape will do, or just use a knife to cut small squares.

Lay them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake until dry and firm.

What Makes These Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats Healthy

These frozen dog treats are made from good-for-you human grade ingredients! Literally you can eat them . Here are how the 3 ingredients break down:

    • bananas a good source of carbs for active dogs, full of potassium, vitamin C and B6, fiber, and antioxidants, and can help with digestion
    • peanut butter what dogs dreams are made of and full of healthy fats and protein. I like to get peanut butter where the only ingredients are peanut butter and salt
    • coconut oil full of saturated fat and has a high amount of medium-chain triglycerides , which provide your body and brain with energy. MCTs are harder for the body to convert into stored fat and easier to burn off. And coconut oil is great for your dogs coat!
