The Omaha Planning Department has recommended the city approve the Saddle Creek rezoning on the condition that Bakers provide for the release of the easement on the north end of the lot and coordinate with Omaha Metro on changes or possible improvements to the existing bus stop. The Planning Board has endorsed the idea, and the final decision will require a vote of the City Council.
Bakers currently operates a fuel savings point program for customers. Points are accumulated based on grocery purchases. Points can be redeemed for fuel discounts at the chains Lakeside Plaza fuel center or at Kwik Shops, Lowrie said.

Saddle Creek Baker’s Store Considers Adding A Gas Station
The Baker’s Supermarket at 888 S. Saddle Creek Road is exploring the possibility of constructing a covered fueling center on the northern portion of the property, a company spokeswoman said.
Baker’s has filed a request asking that the city rezone the Saddle Creek Road location to accommodate a gas station.
Despite those steps, Baker’s spokeswoman Sheila Lowrie said the retailer is still exploring and evaluating the addition of a fuel center at this point and has not finalized any plans.
Baker’s, a subsidiary of the Kroger Co., operates 10 supermarkets in the Omaha area. Only one location at 17370 Lakeside Hills Plaza has a gas station and convenience store, which opened about a year ago.
