Despite Growth Carlo’s Bakery Locations Have Had To Shut Down
Yes, it took more than a century for Carlo’s Bakery to open a branch location, quickly followed by an actual location. And yes, now there are 13 locations across the United States and more in Brazil. But there used to be more Carlo’s Bakeries out there.
For instance, Carlo’s Bakery locations are dropping like flies in New Jersey. A site in Westfield, New Jersey closed in April 2018. Then, a location in Red Bank closed that same summer after five years of operation. By January 2019, the Ridgewood and Morristown locations were shuttered, citing that leases were up, and they were not to be renewed. Looks like the one at Wayne’s Willowbrook Mall dropped off as well. Now, only two shops remain in the Garden State one in Marlton and, of course, the original spot in Hoboken.
Down the coast, both Carlo’s Bake Shop locations in Atlanta closed in May 2019. The closures even spread to Long Island, as the Garden City, New York, location closed in August 2019. And in 2020, the Carlo’s Bakery kiosk inside the Stonebriar Center in Frisco, Texas, also closed where one woman even camped out in 2017 for 18 hours before it opened.

One of my fondest memories from when I lived with my parents were evening TV sessions with my mum. Among the shows we used to binge watch together was Cake Boss. It followed Buddy Valastro who runs Carlos Bake Shop, a family-owned bakery where he whips up out-of-the-world, state-of-the-art wedding and specialty cakes for virtually any occasion.
Throughout the seasons, he repeatedly proved that his creativity and craftsmanship know no bounds and revolutionised the way we think about cake and pastry making. You want a replica cake of your cow that you can actually milk? Youre in the right place. Or maybe youve been dreaming of a 5-tier wedding cake that features special effects lighting Say no more.
Although the show stopped airing on TLC back in 2017, it earned Buddy Valastro an almost cult-like status that reaches well beyond the US. He recently came into the limelight again when alongside her pregnancy announcement, Gigi Hadid revealed that Buddy was the mastermind behind her 25th birthday cake, making a big dream of hers come true.
Being a huge admirer of Buddys extraordinary talent myself, Ive always wanted to combine my very first NYC holiday with a trip to Hoboken, New Jersey to visit the bakery and since that holiday fell around my mums birthday, what better way to surprise her than with a box of goodies from Carlos Bakery!

And Finally Is It Worth The Money
I decided to go for a classic cannoli and a box of assorted butter cookies for my mum the cannoli was $4.50, while the cookie box was around $25. My mum kindly let us all try the cookies Im not a fan of sprinkle cookies, so they missed the mark for me, but the cannoli was easily the best Ive ever had. That golden crispy shell filled with light, fluffy cream haunts me to this day!
The prices will likely keep changing over time, but I hope you will find this estimate helpful anyway. Again, if youre anything like me and would gladly have one of each, the total price can easily build up, but it was an experience I would happily pay for over and over again if I lived closer I have a feeling it will become a staple during my future NYC trips

How To Go To Carlos Bake Shop
want to go to carlos bake shop hampton inn north times square to carlos bake shop holbken nj subway or path which is easier.
The subway doesn’t go to Hoboken. You would need to take the PATH train. The PATH train station at 33rd and 6th Avenue would be the closest one to your hotel.
The Bakery is not far from the Hoboken PATH TRAIN stop.
You will just be going from 6th ave & w. 33rd St PATH TRAIN station to the Hoboken PATH TRAIN station. It should take about 30mins from your hotel.
If you want to combine your bakery excursion with some shopping, the PATH station you’ll be using is right at Macy’s.
It took about 15 minutes from the Manhatan to Hoboken on the PATH train….get off at the last stop in Hoboken…I just always ask…when you get off the PATH train and leave the station, turn left and go about a block. Then turn right on Washington and Carlos bakery is right there. The day we went there were only 2 people in line and Buddy was out filming…. have fun,,,,,,,,

Carlos is a family owned bakery featured on the TLC hit show Cake Boss. Carlos, originally opened by Carlo Guastaffero in 1910, was acquired by Bartolo Valastro Sr. in 1964. Buddy Valastros empire of cake and pastry just got a little smaller, at least in New Jersey.
When it comes to Bergen and Morris counties, the Cake Boss will not be in, not any more.
The Ridgewood and Morristown locations of Carlos Bake Shop have closed, confirms Carlos spokeswoman Nicole Valdes.
The leases at the two locations ended and the company chose not to renew, she tells NJ Advance Media.
Valastros fleet of Cake Boss bakeries has shrunk by more than just a few crumbs. In August, the bakery chain shuttered another location in Red Bank. That closure followed another in Westfield this past April. There are now three Carlos Bake Shops in the state.
The Ridgewood location of Carlos Bake Shop, which opened in 2013 in Wilsey Square, was Valastros first foray in New Jersey outside of Hoboken. The bakery has been in operation in the Mile Square City since 1910. Valastros family took over in 1964, when his father, Bartolo Valastro Sr., bought the bakery.
The company ships confections including rainbow cookies, red velvet cake and cannoli nationwide and sells bakeware on its website.
Carlos Bake Shops remain open in Hoboken, Wayne and Marlton. The Wayne bakery is located within the Willowbrook Mall.
Getting To Carlos Bakery
Carlos Bakery is in Hoboken, New Jersey, on the other side of the Hudson River. You can get there by PATH train or bus from Manhattan. A direct PATH train to Hoboken, New Jersey leaves from 33rd Street. To get to this station take the subway to 34th St Herald Sq and walk from there . Get off at the last station Hoboken and walk to the bakery . Bus 126 to Hoboken-PATH leaves from the Port Authority Bus Terminal . Get off at the stop Washington St Newark St and walk to the bakery . The NJ Transit bus takes around 20-30 minutes.

Cake Boss Started In 2009 And Gained Carlo’s Bakery Widespread Recognition
It’s well-known to Carlo’s Bakery fans that Buddy Valastro was not inherently artistic and struggled in art classes at school. But after establishing himself as the new owner and operator of the historic Hoboken bake shop, Valastro started getting imaginative.
“I wanted to be creative,” it reads on the Carlo’s website, “and thought if I can make cakes that don’t look like normal cakes but taste the way my dad’s cakes tasted … then I might be onto something.” Valastro started with his father’s recipes, creating early bakery orders like the red velvet cake, flower cupcakes, and artistic wedding cakes. Soon, designer cakes became Valastro’s signature, leading to heavy regional recognition for himself and the bakery.
In 2004, Valastro was asked to be a contestant on Food Network Challenge a competitive cooking series at the dawn of reality baking shows. Valastro competed in four of the show’s cake competitions, losing the first three, but winning the fourth, which earned him $10,000 and some mild fame.
But it would be TLC, not Food Network, that would offer Valastro a television series and status as a celebrity baker. TLC filmed for 120 hours for the pilot alone, but the channel was apparently hooked. An additional 12 episodes were ordered, and Cake Boss premiered in 2009. The show has now seen ten seasons.

Im sorry to burst your bubble, but meeting Buddy at Carlos Bake Shop is highly unlikely and borders on impossible. Due to numerous other projects and commitments, hes hardly ever present at the bakery. However, his sisters Mary and Grace often serve customers and I have seen many photos of people who got to meet them even the official website says youre always free to ask if any of the cast members are around! We werent lucky enough, but its definitely worth a shot!

Carlos Bakery in Dallas has closed.
The bakery was made famous by chef Buddy Valastro, who stars in the TV show Cake Boss. The show started on TLC in 2009 and follows a lovable family of New Jersey chefs making over-the-top cakes.
When the bakery opened in Dallas in 2016, it was the first Carlos bakery in Texas. It was the companys biggest shop opening in its history, and a shocking 7,000 people came to meet Valastro on Day One.
The shop closed Dec. 7, according to Michael Ciullo, chief marketing officer for the company. Today, the shop was locked up and vacant, its dessert cases removed. Its a stark contrast from that first day, when Cake Boss fans stood in the Preston Center parking lot, waiting for hours to buy Valastros famous desserts.
Valastro stayed up until 3 a.m. signing autographs with fans.
All that fervor in 2016 led the family to open a Carlos at Stonebriar Center in Frisco in 2017. Its first customer showed up 18 hours before it opened.
But after a few years of selling strawberry cheesecakes and lobster tails, the Frisco shop closed in February 2020.
With both Dallas and Frisco closed, the Cake Boss crew does not have any more bakeries in Dallas-Fort Worth.
The company is shipping its rainbow cakes, lobster tails, cookies and cupcakes across the country via Goldbelly. Shipping is available in the Dallas area.
We found we could reach a broader audience in Texas, without opening 50 stores, he says.

When we walked through the door, we were faced with an overwhelming choice of cakes, pastries, and desserts, each looking more scrumptious than the other. Sadly, as we were leaving New York the next day and had a long journey ahead of us, we decided to get just a pastry each and a gift for my mum.
