Another ingredient that works well to remove burnt grease from frying pans is Bar Keepers Friend. It breaks down the grime at the molecular level. It works great for stainless steel skillets and frying pan bottoms.

  • Mix Bar Keepers Friend with enough water to make a paste.

  • Apply this with a scouring pad to the bottom of the pan.

  • Use circular motions to scrub the bottom of the pan.

  • Rinse and wash in hot soapy water.

  • Baking Soda And Peroxide

Will adding peroxide to baking soda help? The internet seems to think so. This was one of them most common tips I came across. The tip is to mix one quarter of a cup of baking soda and a few tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide into a paste and then rub onto the pan with your fingers. This was a bust. After five minutes of scrubbing I tried using the scrubby side of a sponge and still got very little in the way of results.

Whether you run your pots and pans through a dishwasher or hand wash them, sometimes your cookware needs an extra boost to get clean. Cleaning pots and pans with baking soda can provide this boost. The baking soda adds a gentle scrubbing effect to get rid of stuck-on food and tough stains.

Here’s what you need to know about using baking soda to clean cookware and bakeware.

    Option: Boil Your Mixture

For large grease stains that dont come out, try boiling baking soda. Place a small amount of baking soda in the center of the pan and add about ¼ cup of water or more depending on the size of the pan. Bring it to a boil.

As it evaporates, a film will be left over your pan. Turn off the flame once most of the water has evaporated and begin to scrub the greasy parts. Be sure to use gloves, oven mitts, or kitchen towels.

This works best when the pan is still hot and the grease stains are relatively new.

Are those grease stains becoming a problem in the kitchen? Do they happen frequently no matter how non-stick your pans are? Then you may need to look into ways to prevent grease from getting caked onto your cookware:

    • Soak cookware before washing them to soften the dried food bits, and make them easier to remove.
    • Use parchment paper or a non-stick baking sheet when cooking or baking, even on non-stick cookware. This will prevent your food from directly staining your pans.
    • Clean your pans after every use, and don’t wait for the food stains to stick.

    Keep Stainless Steel Cookware Shiny

Cleaning The Kitchen : How to Clean Baked

Stainless steel cookware can withstand extremely high temperatures. However, its not immune to tarnish, smudges and discoloration. Follow these tips for keeping stainless steel cookware shiny:

    • Prevent spots on your stainless steel cookware by towel drying it after each wash. Unsightly water spots form when you air dry stainless steel.
    • Rub cloudy spots with a dampened sponge sprinkled with baking soda. Then rinse the pot clean with water and towel it dry.
    • Let the cookware completely cool down before putting it in the sink.
    • When boiling a pot of water, add salt after its at a rolling boil. If you salt the water before its boiling, pitting erosion can occur. That leaves tiny but unfixable pits in the bottom of your stainless steel pot.
    • Prevent oil buildup on stainless steel cookware before it starts: Always heat your pan first, add and heat oil, then add the food.

Baking soda and vinegar are often used together in a way that nullifies each others properties. This is why many people are skeptical. It all depends on how the ingredients are mixed. These ingredients can be combined to produce powerful results.

To dissolve the food, heat water and vinegar in a saucepan. Add two tablespoons of baking soda.

Mix the contents. Allow the solution to simmer over medium heat.

Let it cool down before you wash it with a soft sponge. To remove any food residue, you can use a soft non-abrasive brush.

Sheet Pan Cleaning Method: Easy Off And Brillo Pads

    • Total time: 30 minutes

How to: Spray the entire surface of the pan with Easy Off, place the pan in the oven or set it outside in a safe place for 20 minutes. Then, put the pan in the sink, run warm water, and use a Brillo pad to scrub away any remaining grime. Rinse and wash well with warm soapy water.

How it went: Because the Easy Off is a bit fume-y , I sprayed the pan outside in the garage and left it there for 20 minutes. Once my timer went off, I brought it back inside and scrubbed it with a Brillo pad. I assumed it wouldnt take much effort at all and that I would be able to wipe off the grime with a paper towel just like when I used it to clean my oven but 20 minutes wasnt quite enough time to completely obliterate the grime. So a small amount of scrubbing effort was required on my part, but I was very pleased with how quickly the stains came off all the stains, even the really tough old ones.

Impressive as it was, I couldnt shake the fact that I was using a bunch of chemicals on my baking sheet that Id soon be using to roast my organic veggies. This process clearly passed the test but it wasnt my favorite method.
