The Great British Bake Off Judges Arent Going Anywhere
No changes behind the table: Paul Hollywood is sticking around, having used the return of GBBO as a balm against Englands Euro 2020 disappointment.. Prue Leith will continue to rate cakes according to their calorie status in a sort of lawful good doctrine. Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding is still around, but Winnie the Witch narrator Sandi Toksvig is still out: former Little Britain star Matt Lucas will continue in her stead.

The Great British Bake Off Contestants
Channel 4 has finally revealed the twelve budding bakers who will be competing for the prestigious cake stand. Let’s meet them…
Amanda, 56
From: London
Occupation: Client Relationship Manager
Channel 4 says: Quadrilingual Crystelle is a baker who brings her wonderfully diverse heritage born in northwest London to Kenyan born, Portuguese-Goan parents to the flavours in her baking. The youngest of three daughters, she was also the chief-taster as she helped her mother prepare their family meals. When she travels with friends, its her job to make a list of the best restaurants and bakeries in the cities they visit. She began baking seriously only three years ago and loves fusing spices from the places shes visited into her bakes a fougasse infused with turmeric, curry powder and spring onion is a firm favourite.
Freya, 19
From: North Yorkshire
Occupation: Student
Channel 4 says: Freya has been dreaming of entering Bake Off since the first series, when she was nine and saw the tent in Bakewell. Studying for a psychology degree, Freya lives at home with her parents so that she can continue to care for her horse, Winnie, while shes at university. Her passion for horses and baking are the result of spending lots of time with her grandma as she was growing up. A year ago, Freya began making plant-based versions of classic bakes for her dad now its her goal to bake so that no one can tell the results are vegan.
George, 34
From: Bristol
Occupation: Chief Engineer
Lizzie 28 Is A Car Production Operative From Liverpool
Lizzie and her partner live with their dog, Prudence, in an annex in her parents garden . A baker who prefers simple presentation and believes in flavour and quantity over precision, Lizzie may look like shes frantic and messy on the outside, but she is usually calm and collected within. Her baking comfort zone is cake, but she loves experimenting with flavour and is generally prepared to give anything a go as long as it doesnt involve putting cheese in bread, which she thinks can only spell disaster. When shes not baking, Lizzie can be found on the dance floor, doing the samba in a suitably jazzy costume, or investigating the lives of serial killers a fascination she developed during her study for her criminology degree.
Sadly Lizzie’s time on the show came to an end in ‘free from’ week in week 8. Despite her ‘lack of finesse’ that Paul was always talking about, Lizzie made it to the quarter-final and wowed judges with her Gluten-free ‘Extraordinary’ cake.

Who Presents ‘the Great British Bake Off’ 2021
Noel Fielding has returned to his role as presenter, along with his sidekick, Matt Lucas, who joined the show last year following Sandi Toksvig’s departure from the series. The pair were an instant hit with fans last year thanks to their hilarious sketches at the start of the show, along with their comedy banter inside the tent. We’re hoping for a lot more laughs this year.
Speaking of his on-screen chemistry with Noel, Matt told Lorraine earlier this year: “I just have fun and I love working with Noel. Hes so funny. And of course, weve both been in double acts were used to being in that dynamic. So when we write together we understand the rhythms to go, Oh actually, Ive thought of this joke, but you have it. Noel is really generous like that. He comes up with very funny things for me to say.”

Starting with a dozen amateur bakers, Noel, Matt, Paul, and Prue have whittled it down to our three finalists, with just one more Signature, Technical, and Showstopper bake in it before this series is all done and crusted for another series.
It’s down to: Chigs, a newbie to the world of baking, taking up the hobby during lockdown last year quadrilingual Crystelle, who brings interesting flavours from her heritage and travels to every one of her bakes and Giuseppe, a Bristol-based Italian engineer who uses precision to build his delightful confectionary.
While many were outraged to see Bake-Off favourite Jürgen exit the tent in last week’s semi-final, it’s fair to say the competition is exceptionally close, with a fair share of Star Baker accolades dusted across our finalists, as well as Paul Hollywood handshakes.

Will The Great British Bake Off Return For 2022
It most certainly will! Channel 4 have signed a three-year deal with Love Productions, who produce the popular baking show, meaning the network will be airing the programme all the way until 2024.
So prepare for plenty more benevolent baking, stunning showstoppers and the odd innuendo as Bake Off will be on our screens until 2024!
Richard McKerrow, Chief Executive at Love Productions, said: We are delighted to have extended Bake Offs stay on Channel 4 for another three years. Love Productions long-term commitment with Channel 4 illustrates a deep, warm, mutual respect and partnership which enables us to bring Bake Off to the widest audience possible.
Ian Katz, Chief Content Officer at Channel 4, added: We are thrilled that Channel 4 will continue to serve up Bake Offs unique combination of warmth, humour and soggy bottoms for years to come. Bake Off is all about optimism, celebrating eccentricity and bringing the nation together precisely what a publicly owned Channel 4 is here to do.
Before then though, you can enjoy the Great British Bake Off 2021 Christmas special, which Channel 4 recently announced and will see the cast of Its A Sin take part.
The multi award-winning show first aired on Channel 4 in 2017 and has consistently been one of the biggest shows for the channel, with last years final watched by 11.5 million people thats a 41.8 per cent share of the viewing audience.
Jairzeno 51 Works As Head Of Finance In London
For Trinidadian-born Jairzeno, baking is like breathing! He started baking in 2014, after becoming disillusioned with delicious-looking bakes that just didnt deliver on flavour and now, in his own baking, he obsesses over flavour combinations , using lots of Caribbean spices, and aiming for the perfect pâtissérie finish. Jairzeno moved to the UK from Trinidad & Tobago 15 years ago and now lives in London. He has completed multiple half marathons across Europe, and ran the London Marathon in 2012. When hes not baking or running, he and his partner can be found cooking up a storm in their kitchen, or on walks, looking for shapes in nature to inspire Jairzenos next bake.
Sadly Jairzeno was the second baker voted out of the tent after his toy ship made entirely out of biscuit lost a sail right at the last moment.

I always enjoy the heres where they are now bit – except this year its a bit more of a pitch for a Freya and Lizzie travel show where each baker shows them the sights of their hometowns. Crystelle bafflingly chose Baker Street station.

It was the tightest final I can remember. I hope the slightest of errors from Chigs and Crystelle dont make them feel too downhearted. They have a LOT to be proud of here.

Who Are The Hosts Of The Great British Bake Off 2021
There’s no change on the hosting front for Bake Off 2021 either, as Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas both return.
Comedian, actor and artist Fielding has been with Bake Off since it moved to Channel 4 in 2017, but fellow comedian and actor Lucas is a much more recent addition this will be his second year in the tent.
Fielding, 48, best known for his show The Mighty Boosh, has become an unexpectedly calming, reassuring influence on nervous bakers despite claiming not to like cake himself.
Lucas, famous for his sketch show Little Britain with David Walliams, told Lorraine earlier this year how much he loved co-starring with Fielding.
The 47-year-old said: Hes so funny. And of course weve both been in double acts were used to being in that dynamic. So when we write together we understand the rhythms to go, Oh actually, Ive thought of this joke, but you have it.’
“Noel is really generous like that. He comes up with very funny things for me to say.
What Has Jrgen Said About The Great British Bake Off 2021
When he gained the call to enroll in the display, he felt very nervous to accept the be offering and wondered himself if he in reality wants to do that?
Thankfully he did, and is now on our displays changing into one among viewers favourites to watch.
Jürgen is hoping to wow the judges with his technical skill.

And To Do That It Needs To Kill Its Darlings
Fellow GBBO-analysts have already observed that Paul Hollywood is too big for the show for a long time. This series showed that his gnostic mythmaking of Blood Meridians own Judge has not receded, with the cataclysm of handshakes in the semi-final representing what should be the peak on the bell curve of his influence on the tent. He claims hes going to cut out the handshakes next year, but GBBO would be better served by giving him one of his own, along with a P45.
Prue, too, appears to have run her course. Its possible, yes, that her decline into a collection of soundbites about worth the calories, latent wink-wink-nudge-nudges about alcoholism, and still admittedly remarkable jewellery is more to do with Hollywoods dominance than her own volition. But to really recapture its spark after a few years of flatness, it feels only a total overhaul will do. Also, Matt Lucas: goodbye.
Maggie 70 Is A Retired Nurse & Midwife From Dorset
Having grown up surrounded by family who constantly cooked and baked, Maggie finds that baking comes naturally to her. She has an impressive collection of classic recipe books and loves recreating traditional bakes while at the same time experimenting with exciting flavours. Her favourite thing to bake is bread it never occurs to her to buy a loaf . A retired midwife, Maggie believes the excitement of delivering a baby can only be excellent preparation for taking part in Bake Off! She loves canoeing, kayaking and sailing , and regularly takes off in her campervan, heading for adventure. When shes not baking or thrill-seeking, Maggie loves spending time with her great-nieces and great-nephews.

Who Is Winner Giuseppe
Giuseppe, 45, is originally from Italy and grew up baking with his father – a professional chef – so it seems the talent runs in the family.
Celebrating his Italian heritage, his bakes are a combination of his love of Italian flavours, and his engineer’s precision.
Living with his wife and three sons in Bristol, Giuseppe is intent on making sure his children only eat home-made goodies.
As a self-confessed “food snob” he objects to anything mass produced, having spent his childhood baking cakes with his father every Sunday.
With a passion for architecture and design, he has also renovated his family home with his wife.

Who Is Jrgen On The Great British Bake Off 2021
Originally from Germanys Black Forest, Jürgen is a 56-year-old IT professional who has lived in Sussex since 2003.
His journey into baking wasn’t straightforward as he found it challenging trying to incorporate traditional German recipes and ingredients.
Unable to find German bread in the UK he decided to bake his own, and started making a name for himself by baking celebration cakes and Jewish challah bread.
He approaches all of his bakes with scientific calculations to make sure they are exact for the perfect results.
Jurgen is also a musician and plays the trombone.

Who Are The Judges Of The Great British Bake Off 2021
This year, we’re welcoming back to the tent judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, who will do the honours of tasting the bakers’ creations and choosing the eventual winner.
Hollywood has been a Bake Off judge every series since the show began in 2010, while Leith joined the contest when it moved to Channel 4 in 2017.
It sounds as though Hollywood had a particularly good time tasting the bakes this year he has complained to the Sunday People about how much weight he had gained.

The 55-year-old baker and broadcaster said: “I put on 12 pounds in that bloody tent. Prue put on a pound. A pound during Bake Off? Thats ridiculous.”
Contestants are often intimidated by his steely gaze and harsh criticism, but earning a Hollywood Handshake a wordless congratulations from the bread guru is one of the greatest accolades a baker can receive on the show.
Meanwhile, Leith is known for her funky glasses and love of a boozy bake.
She managed to cause one of Bake Off’s biggest controversies in her first year on the show when she accidentally tweeted that Sophie Faldo had won the series hours before the episode aired.
Leith, who was out of the country on the day the pre-recorded final was shown and hadn’t accounted for the time difference, talked afterwards of her horror at realising what she’d done.
