How To Make Some Rocking Barbecue Baked Beans
This recipe comes together pretty quick and the steps are not difficult at all. You can even prepare this ahead of time and just toss it in the oven when youre getting ready to eat.
Add the barbecue sauce, ketchup, water, mustard, cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, garlic powder, cumin powder, and ground pepper to a bowl and whisk until combined well. Set aside.
A note about the water. This step is completely optional depending on how you like your baked beans. The water adds more fluid to your beans, giving you plenty of liquid. If you like your baked beads really thick, you can leave it out.
Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium high heat, breaking it up into small pieces. Cook until the fat renders, about 5 minutes.
Add onions to the sausage and cook until sausage is browned and onions are tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and set aside.
In a bowl add the sausage and sauce. Add all the cans of beans and the Ro-tel. Combine well.
Transfer contents of bowl to a baking dish and add the bacon to the top of the mixture.
Place into oven and bake at 350 degrees F. You may want to place baking dish onto a sheet pan as the dish will bubble.
Bake until beans are bubbling and bacon is cooked, about 1 1/2 hours. Allow to rest for 15 minutes and then serve. You can also add salt and pepper to taste.

This one-pot recipe is super easy to make. After you brown some chopped bacon you will sauté some onion, garlic, and kielbasa in the same pot. Then just add in all the remaining ingredients, cover the pot and transfer it to the oven to finish cooking.

This Baked Beans with Smoked Sausage recipe is my very favorite baked bean recipe. What makes it so special is the slices of smoked sausage. If youre a fan of having meat in your baked beans, you will love this recipe. Its like Beanie Weenies, only much better.
Not only is this recipe flavored with bacon, but the slices of smoked sausage, , make it feel like a main dish casserole instead of a side.
And you may like it so much that you want to eat it as a main dish. I think thats perfectly acceptable.
Just like any delicious baked bean recipe, this recipe has plenty of sweetness. A combination of ketchup, molasses, and light brown sugar provides the sweetness. A little apple cider vinegar, mustard, and Tabasco sauce balances the sweetness.
It cooks in the oven in an uncovered Dutch oven until nice and thick, which really concentrates the flavors.

Canned Bush Baked Beans Recipes
Yield 4 to 6 servings
Number Of Ingredients 9
|4 slices thick-cut bacon, roughly chopped|
|1 medium onion, chopped|
|Two 15-ounce cans Great Northern, navy, cannellini or white beans|
|1/3 cup ketchup|
|1/3 cup dark brown sugar|
|1 teaspoon Dijon mustard|
|1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar|
|1 teaspoon Worcestershire|
|Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper|
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Put the bacon in a large, cold skillet and cook over medium heat until the fat renders and the bacon is almost crisp, about 8 minutes. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add 1 of the cans of beans with their liquid. Drain and rinse the remaining beans, then add them to the skillet. Add the ketchup, sugar, mustard, vinegar, Worcestershire, 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a low simmer, then transfer to a small baking dish. Bake uncovered until thickened and bubbly, about 50 minutes. Serve warm.

- Fry your onion and green pepper until tender. Combine bacon, green pepper, onion, pork and beans, ketchup, brown sugar, and worchestershire sauce in a 9×13 inch pan.

- 1/2 pound Maple Sausage I prefer Jimmy Dean brand
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 tsp McKormick’s Steak Seasoning
- 2 tablespoons katsup

A note about beans. My favorite are Bush’s Original baked beans. However, I’ve also made my own using dried beans as well as going cheap and using generic or other off brands of beans. They all work just fine, but I like the extra seasoning of Bush’s the best. Use what you love.

While you definitely can bake these in your oven, I find that simply heating them on the stove results in perfectly flavored, tender beans.

Some adjustments and thoughts
- Regular sausage works fine too, but the sweetness of the maple sausage is part of the extra yumminess.
- If you find you don’t have any brown sugar, I have discovered that 1-2 tablespoons of honey plus a tablespoon of sugar works just fine.
- Dried onions will work, fresh onions are better.
- Seasoning you can add your own, omit the steak seasoning and add seasoned pepper and other steak/meat spices if you prefer.
