If youve already frosted the bars and want to store them for a longer period, you can freeze banana bars with cream cheese frosting . See tips below.

  • Place the container in the freezer.

Easy & Healthy Banana Recipes

Nearly every time I stop by the grocery store, I nestle some bananas into my shopping cart. I try to select a range of colorssome bright yellow, some lime green, some in betweenso theyre ready to eat on different days throughout the week.

Yet once in a while, a few of them ripen too quickly Or I feel like eating handfuls of fresh berries instead So I occasionally end up with a couple of very speckled and brown bananas on my counter.

You know the kindtheyre the ones perfect for baking!

Since Im guessing you sometimes find yourself in a similar situation, Ive collected some of my favorite easy and healthy banana recipes to share with you! No mixer required for any of these recipesand no refined flour or sugar involved either!

A Very Forgiving Recipe

With a very few variations, the recipe I give below is universal to almost every church or community cookbook written in the last 50 years. Its definitely time-tested! It uses ingredients most commonly found in our pantries: white all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, butter, eggs, milk, and baking soda.

But when I say this is a forgiving recipe, I mean it. You can swap up to half the flour for whole wheat or another favorite whole-grain flour. You can use brown sugar instead of white or another sugar altogether. You can use margarine or oil for the butter and almond milk, kefir, buttermilk, or even water for the liquid. The bread will be fine with just one egg. Ive never tested it without eggs, but I suspect this would still make a perfectly snackable loaf.

My point here is that you can still make banana bread even if you find yourself short on one of the other ingredients . You can also get creative and play with these base ingredients to your hearts content.

What Kind Of Bananas Should I Use

How to Bake Banana Bread Recipe: Chef Julie Yoon

Bananas are such a versatile fruit. Theyre sweet, filling, have the most satisfying texture, and are downright DELISH.

One of the main reasons I absolutely love bananas is that they are so easy to use in baking. They add richness and sweetness and serve as a binding ingredient to hold together muffins, loaves, cookies, you name it! Also, they make anything you bake or cook so tender and moist like in my High Protein Banana Bread Recipe and Paleo Banana Pancakes with Coconut Flour.

When baking bananas on their own or in baked goods like these, youll have better results if you use very ripe bananas with lots of spots. Theyre softer, theyre sweeter, and are that much more delicious when making roasted banana.
