Former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfields Heisman statue was finally revealed during a celebration at the Everest Training Center on Friday evening.
The 2017 Heisman Trophy winner is the sixth Sooner player with a statue that is displayed on the Memorial Stadium.

While the official reveal will be shown at the halftime of Saturdays Spring Game, a first look was shown on Friday during a special reveal party for Mayfield.
Mayfields statue was initially set for dedication at the 2020 Spring game, but the event was canceled due to COVID-19.
The statue didn’t include a traditional helmet for Mayfield, which honestly seems a bit unsafe, but it had his patented headband instead. Mayfield was known for wearing a headband during his time with the Sooners.

The second year Cleveland Browns quarterback didnt necessarily take the league by storm in his first season. Playing in 14 games and going 6-7 in those starts. He threw for 3,725 yards with a respectable 27 TDs and 14 INTs, no Patrick Holmes by any means. Lets think about this for a second though. What Does Baker Mayfield Mean
Cleveland Browns quarterback, Baker Mayfield was born April 14, 1995. He was barely recruited coming out of high school. He then decided to walk on to Texas Tech. After many injuries he became the starting quarterback for TTU in their season opener. During week 5, he sprained his MCL and had to sit out. After he was healed he was still benched by KliffKingsbury. Because of lack of communication and not being promised a scholarship, he decided to transfer as a walk on to the University of Oklahoma. There, he won the starting position and led the team to 2 CFP appearances. During his senior year he won the Heisman, becoming the first walk on to win a heisman. He lost his last college game to Georgia 54-48 in double OT. He then went on to the NFL Draft and was the first overall pick. The Cleveland Browns original named Tyrod Taylor as the starting quarterback, but after suffering a concussion is week 3, Baker had to play, leading the Browns to overcome a 17 point deficit in one half. He was then the starter for the rest of the season. During week 17 against the Ravens he broke an NFL Rookie record for 27 touchdown passes in a rookie season.

Good morning Cleveland Browns fans!
Todays key news – believe it or not – is about a bad statue of Baker Mayfield. The draft is rolling toward us, Jadeveon Clowney is nibbling at the bait, and the best I have is stories and photos of a statue that looks nothing like Baker Mayfield.
Something is wrong here. But I dont judge I just link whatever stories show up from credentialed outlets in my feed. And then I judge. Generally badly.
Anyhow, Im tut-tuting today because the Newswire isnt all it probably should be at this time of year, but, like the rest of the media, I myself enjoyed the good weather yesterday, producing little, and was t0o mesmerized by the giant forehead on the Baker Mayfield statue to accomplish much.
It was just this morning that I realized that the issue with Bakers head on the statue is that he is portraying wearing a giant Nike headband. Upon first glance, I thought it was some sort of previously-unreported premature hair loss or some tragic pituitary condition. But, nope, headband. It was probably the fourth photo I looked at which made me realize this.
Anyhow, headband or no, the statue looks nothing like Baker. At least Im not the one getting fired this time, although, given my history, Im likely to be blamed for it anyway.
Thats all I got today. Enjoy the nice Cleveland weather, but dont get overconfident that its here to stay. In Northeast Ohio, nothing is given, and all expectations have to be carefully managed.

I have fallen so hard and fast on Mayfield. Two weeks ago I would have argued he should be a top five pick, but Im having serious reservations right now. First, Mayfield came out and said his two favorite beers are Dos Equis and Michelob.
That was bad enough, but now hes rocking an awful headband. Im out so hard on Mayfield. He went from being one of the best players in the draft for me to being a guy I might have to take completely off of my board. It just seems way too risky to have a guy whose favorite beer isnt Miller Lite and wears headbands. So many red flags.

METAIRIE, La. — New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis turned his $7,017 fine for wearing a “Man of God” headband into a win-win.
First, Davis channeled the outspoken reaction to his fine into a charitable cause. He announced Tuesday that he has raised more than $30,000 in sales of “Man of God,” “Woman of God” and “Child of God” headbands for St. Dominic Hospital in his home state of Mississippi.
Davis also announced on social media that he won his appeal with the NFL over the fine, which occurred in Week 3, and that he will be donating the money he won back to St. Dominic, as well.
“That’s a huge win,” Davis said Wednesday while wearing the “Man of God” headband at his locker. “We’ve been able to turn it into a positive and use it to raise funds for a hospital that’s trying to rebuild this emergency room. And just to have the support of the community — and pretty much nationwide — it’s been amazing. And then on top of that, being blessed to win the appeal and be able to take those funds that I was already counting as a loss and further contribute to the cause, it’s just a major blessing. And I don’t take it for granted.”
The NFL often rescinds fines in these cases when a player demonstrates an understanding of the rule and total compliance with the rule moving forward.
