Preparing Your Potato For The Air Fryer:

Air Fryer Loaded Baked Potato’s recipe

While one of the reasons that I love cooking baked potatoes is because they are super simple and easy, I also love cooking them because the prep time is minimal. Like, mere minutes minimal.

Before I do anything, I always start by scrubbing off and washing the potatoes. I’m a huge fan of eating the potato skins, so having them clean is a must! If you don’t prefer to eat the skins, your next step would be to peel those skins off.

After that potato is sparkly clean, poke some holes in it so that the heat and air can escape. I love to run olive oil all over the outside as well and then cover with my favorite spices.

Air Fryer Tips And Recommendations:

I use the I use the OMORC Air Fryer XL. Its 5.8 quarts which means that its large enough to hold plenty of food. It is also dishwasher safe which is a must in my home.

I also use a mister for applying oil. This is because the non-stick spray in the aerosol cans can damage your air fryer basket over time.

What Are Jacket Potaotes

If you are wondering what a jacket potato is, I had to look it up too. One of my readers asked if I could do a jacket potato. All I could picture was a jacket on a potato. Seriously.

So after a brief email conversation with my reader, I knew that it was an English dish. Baked Potato in the United States is almost equal to the English version of Jacket Potato. The only difference is that they are much crispier than the American Baked POtato. Which is a perfect job for the air fryer.

Jacket Potatoes are known for their crispy skin, and unlike Air Fryer baked potatoes it is really important that you oil, salt, and poke holes into the potato since you will be air frying them longer.

We also love to top our baked potatoes with chopped meats too such as brisket or chicken. These are just perfect for leftover meats as well.

Air Fryer Baked Potatoes with Crispy Skin + VIDEO

The answer to this question is no, do not wrap potatoes in aluminum foil especially when you bake them in the Air Fryer.

If you wrap potatoes in foil they will hold in moisture and it will steam the potatoes.

As a result, you will get boiled potatoes and also the texture of boiled potatoes so no foil is required in this recipe.

    • Use a mealy or floury variety of potato like a Russet for the very best baked potatoes.

    • Timings will vary depending on the size of your potatoes. Potatoes larger than 8 oz. will require more cooking time. Sometimes up to 45-50 minutes.
    • Check the internal temperature. Potatoes should reach an internal temperature of 205F to 210F for the perfect doneness.

What Kind Of Salt Should I Use

I like to use sea salt flakes because I like the taste which I find less hard than some other salt. The flakes also look nice when serving the potatoes. There are many different kinds of salts available, some of them have additional flavourings already added e.g. garlic salt, smoked salt and chilli salt.
