Every year at Christmas we visit my aunt to celebrate the holidays with my Moms side of the family. Part of our yearly tradition involves bringing a homemade treat as a family gift for all of the relatives. I like to do more than one treat, so I make each family a basket of homemade goodies. One of everyones yearly favorites is Ranch Oyster Crackers. The recipe is super easy, involves only a few ingredients and will have everyone raving about their wonderful flavor!

While making this years Ranch Oyster Crackers we had the chance to substitute plain old vegetable oil with LifeOiL. LifeOiL is the first all-purpose cooking oil formulated with a natural blend of sunflower, safflower, and olive oil. LifeOiL is light in taste and appearance, plus it supplies more Vitamin E than any other vegetable oil. How To Make Ranch Oyster Crackers

A lot of people bake these, but I prefer a no bake method. Not sure why I get these thoughts in my mind, but heating up the oven for these just feels … excessive? Excessive of what? I am not sure.

So without the oven, I simply add a liquid fat like butter or oil and toss the crackers in it. Then sprinkle the seasoning on top and toss until all the crackers are covered.

If you want to make Spicy Ranch Crackers, add a little cayenne and red pepper flakes!

Air Fryer Ranch Oyster Crackers

Hidden Valley Oyster Crackers

Ranch Oyster Crackers are a nostalgic treat that you can make in your air fryer! Air fryer ranch oyster crackers are ready in under 10 minutes.

This treat was something that I used to enjoy as a kid.

I remember it was something that our family seemed to make when people were coming over.

Or it always seemed to find a way to the kids table at a family pot luck. Do you remember these from childhood?

This particular recipe makes about a half of a batch than traditional recipes.

If you want you can always double the recipe and cook two batches, if you are feeding a crowd.

  • Tips For Making Seasoned Oyster Crackers

    • Crackers Be sure to use the best oyster crackers you can find. I like to use Nabisco or OTC oyster crackers but youll also want to make sure theyre fresh and not stale. Nobody likes a soft cracker.
    • Butter I use salted butter for this seasoned oyster cracker recipe. You can use unsalted butter but then you may want to add a pinch of salt to balance the flavors just a bit.
    • Ranch Seasoning Mix Any brand of ranch seasoning mix will work well for this recipe but I like to take it one step further and use my HOMEMADE Ranch Seasoning Mix. Its super simple and ready in seconds.

    Recipe Tips And Variations:

    • Make extra: This snack has a way of getting eaten up immediately, and I always wish I had made more.
    • Storage: A tin, a tub, whatever airtight container you have to fit them. Theyll be fine for a few days, at least.
    • Baked vs.unbaked: I dont usually bake this recipe. Within a few minutes, the butter absorbs into the crackers and tastes great. However, some cooks bake their oyster crackers for 10 minutes in a 250-degree oven to toast them up.
    • Spicy: Turn up the heat with ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper or 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes added to the herbs and butter. You may want more or less spice depending on your tolerance for heat.
    • Taco seasoning: Instead of Ranch seasoning, dill, and other spices, make the recipe with a packet of store-bought taco seasoning , 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, and 1 teaspoon chili powder.
    • Sweet oyster crackers: Cinnamon and sugar. Toss the crackers with all of the butter, ¼ cup granulated sugar, and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.
    • Parmesan cheese: Sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan cheese over the buttered crackers. You can even switch in 2 tablespoons of homemade Italian Seasoning and skip the Ranch, dill, and lemon pepper.
