For the purpose of freezing, lets divide cookies into three main categories: chunky cookies, tender slice-and-bake cookies, and cut-out cookies.
Chunky cookies, like chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin, freeze best if you portion out the dough beforehand. Scoop out the dough just as if you were about to bake it, but then freeze it instead. Once frozen, the little balls of dough get sealed up inside a plastic freezer bag when you need a cookie fix, just grab as many as you want to bake.
Most frozen cookies will need an extra minute or two in the oven. Otherwise, prepping and baking the cookies is exactly the same as in the recipe youre just giving them a freezer vacation in the middle.

Nestle has issued a recall for ready-to-bake refrigerated Nestlé Toll House Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with Fudge Filling because the product may contact plastic pieces.
Nestlé USA has recalled one of its chocolate chip cookie dough products because it might be contaminated.
The company found that its ready-to-bake refrigerated Nestlé Toll House Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with Fudge Filling might contain white plastic fragments, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration .
The cookie dough, which produces four, jumbo-stuffed cookies after baking, were made between June and Sept. 2022 and were distributed nationwide.
The recalled product has a UPC code of 0-50000-42001-2.
No other Nestlé products, including other cookie dough brands, have been affected by the recall.
While no illnesses or injuries have been reported, we immediately took action out of an abundance of caution after a small number of consumers contacted Nestlé USA about this issue, the FDA alert said.
The FDA urges people who bought the recalled cookie dough not to consume it and return it to its place of purchase for a refund or replacement.

Pillsbury and Nestle Toll House have two common varieties a rolled tube of dough, and then pre-cut cubes. We bought one of each.
The pre-cut packages were each $4.99 at our local markets, while the rolls were $3.99. We also decided, after seeing it in three different New York City grocery stores, to buy the Betty Crocker bagged dry mix for $3.79.
