  • Pan-sear the chicken thighs until a luscious golden-brown and throw some onions and a mess of little potato cubes into the skillet to get all roasty-toasty.
  • Sauce. Honey garlic sauce gets made right in the same pan and it is to.die.for. Throw your chicken and potatoes back in the pan and nestle em in ALL THE SAUCE. Ensure that every inch is covered.

Into the oven with everything for a little while and your job is basically done.

Note: Boneless thighs will also work with this recipe! Decrease the baking time by 5-8 minutes and bake until chicken registers 165.

Besides demolishing said skillet which we all know is the most crucial job.

The chicken seriously bakes up SO ridiculously moist and tender in the honey garlic sauce and meanwhile the potatoes get crispy and golden to the MAX.

I could eat this for dinner every day tbh, guys.

With extra-extra-EXTRA drenchings of sauce please and thank you. >

Can I Use Garlic Powder Instead Of Minced Garlic

Swap in garlic powder for minced garlic. Use a little less garlic powder, about 3/4 of a tablespoon of garlic powder instead of the tablespoon of minced.

To swap in fresh garlic for minced garlic use three minced garlic cloves.

Garlic can be an easy place to adjust the seasonings to your own taste. While you dont want to go overboard with garlic, youll still have a delicious recipe throwing in an extra clove of garlic or reducing by a 1/4 teaspoon of powdered garlic for example to your own liking.

If you want these chicken thighs to have a bit more kick to them, I suggest adding a splash or two of Sriracha! It will really bring out the heat of the paprika. I love how the sriracha tastes on the chicken thighs.

You can also add a little bit of cayenne pepper or spicy garlic paste. That will kick them up!

How To Reheat Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs

Reheat in the air fryer: Heat the air fryer to 370°F and then heat the air fryer honey chicken thighs for 6-8 minutes, flipping once halfway through.

You can reheat frozen chicken in the air fryer without defrosting you just need to allow an additional 8-10 minutes.

Reheat in the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F, then put the chicken on a wire rack over a baking tray. Heat for around 15 minutes. If your chicken is frozen, you must defrost it before heating it in the oven.

How to reheat on the stovetop: Add a little water to a skillet and heat over a medium temperature. Once the water is simmering, add the chicken and gently stir as it heats up. If your chicken is frozen, defrost it before heating it.

Always use a meat thermometer to check that chicken has reached a safe internal temperature of 165°F before serving.

Can I Use Chicken Legs Or Drumsticks

35-minute Baked HONEY GARLIC CHICKEN Thighs Recipe – EASY

Chicken legs or drumsticks tend to taste best when they are cooked to 185 degrees when measured with a meat thermometer and may need a few extra minutes of cooking time.

I have not tried this honey garlic chicken recipe with chicken breast or chicken drumsticks yet, but it should work no problem with the tips above. Always make sure the chicken measures at least 165 degrees internally with a meat thermometer to have it cooked safely before eating. If you try this recipe with chicken breasts or legs, let me know in the comments!

How To Make Baked Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs

  • Lightly oil a large casserole dish, a 9×13 inch pan or even a baking sheet. Remove any excess fat from the chicken, then place the chicken thighs in an even layer in the pan.
  • In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, apple cider vinegar, olive oil and juice from one lemon. With a fork or whisk, mix the sauce ingredients together until combined.
  • Pour the marinade over the chicken thighs in the pan. Cover with plastic wrap or a lid, then refrigerate the marinated chicken for at least 30 minutes. The chicken thighs can also be marinaded overnight.
  • Remove the pan from the fridge and let it sit on the counter while the oven preheats. Preheat the oven to 425°.
  • Place the pan in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes. Check the chicken with a meat thermometer stuck in the thickest part of the chicken without touching a bone. When finished cooking the thermometer will read 165°.
  • Turn the broiler to 500°, let the chicken broil just till browned, about 2 to 4 minutes. Watch carefully as once the chicken starts browning under the broiler it can brown fast and quickly turn from golden brown and become too dark if left too long.
  • Remove the chicken from the oven. Sprinkle the top of the chicken with sliced green onions, or even add a few red pepper flakes at the table. Serve and enjoy!

Tips For The Best Honey Garlic Chicken Recipe

  • Pat the chicken dry before seasoning and basting. Removing the extra moisture will help the skin get nice and crispy in the oven.
  • Use a rimmed baking sheet lined with foil. A lot of fat, juices, and sauce will drip off of the chicken as it bakes. The foil-lined sheet catches those drips and makes cleanup easy.
  • The total cooking time will vary depending on the size and type of chicken that you use. Smaller wings, drumsticks, and thighs will cook faster than large bone-in chicken breasts, for example. The meat is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  • Bone-in honey garlic chicken thighs are our favorite. The dark thigh meat stays so tender and juicy in the oven!

Ingredients For Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs

**Find the full list of ingredients along with the recipe instructions at the end of this post**

Chicken thighs : I like to use them to make this air fryer honey garlic chicken because they are more tender than other chicken parts and easier to cook to perfection! Theyre also usually cheaper.

Cornstarch: Coating the chicken thighs in cornstarch before air frying gives them an even crispier finish, which I love! If you dont have cornstarch, you can also use regular flour. However, this will add extra gluten .

    For the sauce

Unsalted butter: I use unsalted butter because I can control my dish’s sodium levels more. You could also use dairy-free butter if you are avoiding dairy.

Minced garlic: To mince garlic, crush it with the flat edge of your knife and then place it against the tip. Hold the tip while you use a rocking motion to chop the garlic as small as possible. Alternatively, you can buy prepared frozen garlic.

Raw honey: Raw honey isnt pasteurized, so it retains more nutrients and antioxidants than regular honey. It also has a more complex and delicious flavor. Speak with a trusted local provider if you want raw honey – alternatively, you can use honey from the grocery store.

Low-sodium chicken broth or stock: Again, Ive chosen a low-sodium option to control the salt levels in this dish! You can also make chicken stock by slowly boiling a chicken carcass with vegetables like celery, onions, and carrots.

Whats The Best Chicken To Use

The best cut for this Instant Pot honey garlic chicken recipe is thighs. Drumsticks are just as juicy but dont come boneless, wings have too many bones, and the breasts are simply dryer all making them second bests.

Still, beauty lies in the eye of its beholder. The best cut is the one you love most this recipe welcomes alternatives.
