Another factor to consider when deciding how long to bake chicken is the thickness of the meat. Thicker pieces of chicken will take longer to cook through than thinner pieces. So if youre short on time, go for thinner cuts of chicken, like boneless, skinless chicken breast tenders or thinly sliced chicken cutlets.
What Temperature Do You Cook Chicken To
This answer isnt wishy-washy: for a whole chicken, check the temp in the deepest part of the thigh without touching the bone. The temperature should be 165 – 175 degrees F. If youre cooking just thighs or drumsticks, check the temperature in the thickest part. Cooking whole chicken legs? You still want to check the temp in the thigh portion. Wings are pretty much impossible to check with a thermometer, but if theyre being cooked in the same pan with all the other parts, they will definitely be done when the rest of the pieces are done.
For chicken breasts, the temperature should be 165 degrees F to be fully cooked. When youre cooking a whole bird, you can check between the thigh and back-breast for clear juices: pink juices are an indication that the chicken is not cooked through. Clear juices indicate that it is cooked.
How To Season Chicken Breasts
Chicken breasts are mildly flavored so youll want to add seasonings and some salt. Most of the time I dont brine or use a chicken marinade as Im most often looking for a quick meal but of course, you can do either. If cooked and seasoned well, theyre tender and juicy on their own.

If you have any leftover baked chicken, its important to store it correctly so that it doesnt spoil. The best way to store leftover chicken is to wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and then place it in the refrigerator.
Leftover chicken will be safe to eat for up to four days. After that, the chicken should be thrown away.

Can I Make These In The Oven
If you dont have an air fryer, these turn out great in the oven. Make sure to preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Then place the chicken strips on a wire rack. Place this on a foil covered baking sheet. Spray the tenders with cooking spray.
Bake for 10 minutes. Then flip the tenders over and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until cooked through. If desired, you can broil for the last couple minutes for a crispier breading.

How Long To Bake Bone
The answer is about 30 minutes. It really doesnt matter whether you cook bone-in or boneless chicken breast, they will be done in the same amount of time.
Just be sure to check the internal temperature frequently, about five or seven minutes before the recommended baking time.
This will help ensure that your chicken is cooked through and juicy, so there is no need to worry about overcooking.

Should You Bake Chicken Covered Or Uncovered
Do you cover a chicken when roasting? We generally like to roast our chicken uncovered so the skin crisps up and turns an appealing golden brown. If the chicken starts to get too dark before it reaches the proper internal temperature, you can tent a piece of foil over the top to prevent it from over cooking.
It depends on the size of your chicken, the type of oil you use, and how long you leave it in the oven. We usually cook our whole chickens for about 20-25 minutes, depending on how big they are and the temperature of the oil we use. You can also cook them for longer if you want, but its not necessary.

Chicken breasts quickly seared on the stove will only take 15-18 minutes in the oven at 400. In other words, searing can reduce the baking time by 1-3 minutes. A longer searing time can reduce baking time further.
But why sear chicken before baking? As you can see in the photos, chicken breast doesnt brown well when baked at 400. Searing provides some browning on the chicken, and helps to lock in the moisture and flavor.

The traditional and popular temperature for baking chicken breasts that are smaller in size and thickness, about 4 to 6 ounces is 350F and cooking time tends to be about 22 to 30 minutes.
Because of their smaller size, the lower temperature gives you less of a chance of them drying out.

Boneless skinless chicken breasts cook almost in half the time as bone-in chicken breasts because bone-in breasts are larger and thicker.

Take it from our best recipe for whole roast chicken: a 3 1/2- to 4-pound trussed whole chicken will roast on a baking sheet in a 425 degrees F oven for 70 to 80 minutes. Several important steps: let the chicken sit at room temperature 30 minutes to 1 hour before roasting so it cooks evenly, and take the bird out of the oven when an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the breast registers 155 degrees F .

In a skillet or pan, cook for about 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown. Cook for 4-5 minutes more, or until the chicken thighs are golden brown.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the chicken stock to the skillet. Cook the chicken for a further 12-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken thighs reaches 165°F after the stock begins to boil. Serve with family and friends and garnish with parsley.
